1 week 3 day post op

Apr 03, 2009

I had my surgery 1 week 3 days ago today and has been a learning experience and really getting to know my body all over again.  The day I came home from the hospital was the most painful, not really painful just soreness.  I really have not pain just alot of soreness.  Of course the morphine drip in the hospital was the greatest, but the pain meds I cam home with have been good too  I came home with my JP drain in, which I hated just more of a pain than anything.  My skin around the drain was very irritated and when Dr. T took the drain out the weirdest feeling, not painful just odd, like the drain was rubbing across my guts...lol.  The hardest thing for me was the one week of clear liquids, I was so sick of drinking broths, I never want to drink broth again.  Thank goodness that part is over.  Now onto thicker liquids/semi soft foods, Dr. T told me I could try really anything I felt comfortable with in the consistancy of yogurt or mashed pot.  So when we left the doctor office we stopped at KFC and I got mashed potatoes with gravy, talk about good, wow best mashed potatoes I had eaten.  =0)  I was only able to eat about 4 bites and I was full.   But o so good.

Now trying to get in the protein, I always heard people say protein shakes suck or they are gross, my first thought was whatever they can't be that bad.  Well no i understand they are horrible, but i have sucked it up and doing the best I can.  I so don't want to loose my hair!!  I am not a milk drinker and I tried a chocolate fudge protein but just couldn't stomach it.  Now I am working on and different clear protein, but i have had to add water.  But am eating other things high in protein, so I think all is going well.  I will meet with my nut next Tuesday to make sure I am doing ok.

The most exciting moment from my post op visit was that i am down 15 pounds!!
