Believe me Susan, I'm 53 and just now having the surgery. This is not the easy way out for us, it's the only way out. You are doing great keep up the good work. Judith

April 1st, 33 lbs gone for good...I've been so busy between work, school, and the boyfriend...(but those are all good things so i'm not complaining.) Had my check up and I'm doing very well and she noticed the difference in me...then we had a nutrition class and i got to meet several other women in various stages...i felt really bad for a lady who had must have had a blockage..she couldn't even keep water down...i'm really grateful for my experience with this so far, and was a little scary thinking that that could be me if I don't watch it. So i'm watching it...protien first, try to get all my water in, excersizing 3 times a week at curves...and staying busy. I'm far from perfect at it but if i screw up like eat something i probably shouldn't (like poofy, huskfree cheese popcorn) i try not to beat myself up over it. Oh, and I finally heard the comment "you took the easy way out" , it came from my brother to my mother and my mother told me...(like i'm shocked? lol) I just said , oh ya, having major surgery , eating 1/4 to a 1/2 cup of food for a meal is easy....I just figure people that say stuff like are just not educated about it and have no idea of what they are speaking....ya, it's not easy, but it's worth it. They just don't understand, and that's ok. anyways, have a good day...sue

today is March 27th, and I am down 31 lbs so far, not bad for 5 weeks out , I have a check up in 2 days, one with the surgeon and one with the nutritionist, I'm thinkin that it will go ok...still sticking to a shake for breakfast, and excersizing 3 times a week at Curves, most foods are ok...i tried a little canned turkey with mayo the other night and it did not feel good...so it got tossed. I just try whatever and if it goes down great, if it feels uncomfortable i stop eating it (makes sense, lol) So far I have never dumped...I stay away from sugar totally, not going to risk it, and have actually made a homemade apple pie with splenda and it was delicious...ok, so I couldn't eat the whole pie like i wanted too...but i was satisfied with just a few bites...and so happy that I could eat it. I'm noticing little changes all the time, like yesterday i put my hands on my knees and actually felt my knee cap lol...my boyfreind is noticing a lot of changes and complements and encourages me all the time...(he's my biggest cheerleader, lol) I feel so good too, like I never had surgery, and excersizing is getting easier and my heart rate doesn't get up as high as it used to...so i'll probably have to do things during the excersize next month to make it a little harder to get my heart rate higher...ok..well, gotta go do some homework...have a good day, sue

today is my one month anniversary, and i feel great, weight loss of over 24 lbs, i'm starting to feel things get smaller, like my fingers and wrists, a couple mornings ago i was sitting at the kitchen table with my arms crossed and i realized my forearm felt smaller :)) lol...little things like that really make you feel good. went to visit my Mom and Dad yesterday, was my Mom's birthday the other day and I couldn't make it over...so I brought her a BIG bunch of roses...it was so sweet to see her melt as I gave them too her, and of course the..."you shouldn't waste your money on me" comment lol...she just turned 75, damn she's worth it and tons more...i'm so grateful I still have both my parents...after visiting my Mom and Dad I went to see my daughter, her comment to me was "Mom, your shrinking!" :) It's not much but a start. My boyfriend gave me packets of "champion nutrition" pure whey protien stack...there are 2 servings in a pack and a total of 46 grams of protien in a packet...I just mix the whole packet in one drink so that I get all my protien at once. The best part is they don't taste bad either, I especially like the banana scream, but they come in vanilla, strawberry and a cappacino like flavor...yummm. (only 240 calories in the whole packet and it's reasonably priced.) I'm looking forward to seeing the end of another month and to see how much more I have lost...one day at a time, and each day is different. Most days I feel great, some, a little tired at times but they say that is normal from what I have read. hmmm, think i'll paint my toenails! have a great day! :) sue

23 days out and I have lost 23.4 lbs! I'll take a pound a day anytime! lol I actually weigh what is says on my driver's licence now lol, and was able to take my pants off last night without unsnapping and unzipping them :) I was put on phase 3 at my first checkup because things were going so well, but lately I have had 2 almost dumping episode so I have put myself back on phase 2...(listen to your body)...I hate puking, always have...so maybe I'm being overcareful to prevent it, maybe it's inevitable i'm just trying not to have it happen. I can never tell what is going to make it upset...so far it seems like leftovers are a no-no, and i tried a breaded fish patty one night that i baked in the oven but i think there was 2 much grease in the breading...gets frustrating because and one time something will be ok and then the next time i have it...nope...tummy doesn't like it. This morning I'm having a boiled egg chopped up with mayo (egg salad without the bread) with a couple townhouse crackers, seems to be going down ok. Was up rather late last night giving my daughter in law her first full body swedish massage...she absolutely melted lol, i asked her if she regretted waiting so long to get one from me and she said "yesss" (I've been doing massage for a year now and love it. Think I'll give one to my boss today, she needs one...I need to get some posters made showing that massage is available now at the resort...hmmm...this should be fun. ok, I need to shower and get ready for work...have a good day! sue

Actually used my Curves membership yesterday! LOL I was afraid I wouldn't even be able to walk in place for a half an hour but I was wrong (thank you God), actually did the whole thing (and I'm only 18 days out). My heart rate was supposed to get to 20, but it kept going up to 28 so I had to slow down lol. Treated myself to a tanning session also (that's a first for me). I felt so good when I was done! I'll be going back (glad I liked it as I've already committed to pay for a year! lol) People there are actually nice and freindly instead of snobbish like at other places I've (breifly) visited in the past. I didn't feel anyone was judging me at all, and there are all kinds of people there, young to old, we are all different is all. Today will be my first day back to work...I love my boss, she is very supportive of me and has not pressured me one bit to get back to work, stopped by my old job and everyone was glad to see me and a few even commented that they could tell I had lost weight :) It's only a beginning, that's the nice part...as long as I keep doing what I'm doing I should be ok...I was actually beating up on myself the other day that I haven't lost more quicker, but then I counted the days out, and realized I've been losing a pound a day, no wonder I could never succeed with past diets...I want instant gratification, or 50 lbs off in 2 weeks, impatient, after I realized it hasn't been very long I quickly quit beating up on myself lol. So, work today, and possibly tomorrow, and there is a dance to go to tomorrow night...hmmmmmmm, I just happen to have a new outfit (black stretch velvet pants n top with feathers around the low neckline ;) ) I may wear it or wait til I lose a few more pounds! Have a great day, sue

joined Curves today, i really like it, it's larger and a more relaxed atmosphere then the excersize place I had gone to in the past, wieghed in there and according to thier scale I am only 17 pounds down not 19 or 20 as I had hoped. (i might as well pitch my scale out the window! lol) But that's ok...progressing in the right direction anyways. I also bought a container of their protien powder, hoping it tastes better then the one I presently am using...or not using because it not only tastes funky, but everything I put it in it seems to turn slimey...ugh! have a good day...sue

3/6/06 Not sure if my scale is correct or not but according to it, 19 lbs gone as of today...coooool! I've been so lax since surgery, I need to get back to work and get back on track with school. Don't know if i mentioned it before or not but I do massage therapy, went to school for it last year and missed a C in pathology by 2 points...so i'm repeating that class and taking a couple others this year. And I am employed at a resort now, girl friday job plus doing massage for tourists starting to arrive in April, before that I was employed at a popular store starting with a big W! lol...the resort job was the first "job offer" I've ever recieved in my whole life, so I took it! Hope it works out well...she's been really good about not nagging me to come back to work...but I think I will go back for at least 2 days this week...work into it....it's not a full time position but I need to get back on track with my responsibilities and quit being soooo lazy! lol...Everything seems to be going well with my new pouch...no vomiting or nausea yet...no major pains...just a slight pain if I eat too fast or start to get full. Getting all that water in is hard sometimes, but if i feel i'm laxing I pop in a s/f popsicle or 2 and that helps the h20 intake. I have an appointment this week for a tour at Curves on Wed. (that reminds me, i need to change the oil in my car! :) lol have a great day...sue
