Hi Susan! I was looking through the profiles and noticed you were having surgery soon with Dr. Smith. I had surgery with Dr. Smith in September of 2005. I know you are nervous now but don't be. Everything will be great. I didn't have alot of pain with my surgery. More of an uncomfortable feeling rather than pain. As far as the eating...I was nervous about that too but after the surgery I didn't have the urge to overeat anymore. In fact I now have to make myself eat...Never thought that would happen! But I feel wonderful. Since September 16, 2005 I have lost 80 pounds and I have never felt better in my life. Dr. Smith and Sandy are angels. You are in great hands. Good luck with your surgery! I hate to admit this...but i'm scared! lol Can I really do this, make all the changes neccessary and not blow it? Not overeat and stretch my pouch? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to bring to the hospital? I'm getting ready and packing my bag early, just bought a new nightgown and robe and slippers, any feedback would be appreciated. Really having a struggle with smoking, quitting...and staying quit. Just do it right? lol

Still have some congestion from Bronchitis, figure i better get that cleared up before the 20th so i made an appointment to get antibiotics for tomorrow...and my preop physical is on Wed. I work part time and go to school (massage therapy) so i'm pretty busy. I didn't tell my parents until just before approval, figured all i would hear are horror stories and didn't want to hear that. Cuz my mind is made up. They were actually supportive, and wish my brother would do the same...he is over 400 lbs. and very unhealthy, they are hoping he will after he sees me go thru it. ( i get to be the guinea pig? lol)

all the information has been gathered and is being submitted for approval this week...the bariatric nurse is so nice, and she said we should find out in a week or two what they decide. I'm praying this goes through....if you read this, please do the same!?!
