I haven't on my Blog for awhile. So here is a quick update on what is going on.
I finally got approved by OHIP. Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
I saw Dr. L. on September 17, 2007, everything went well, he just said I had to lose 10lbs before surgery.
Surgery date November 29, 2007.
I have booked my Hotel room.
The days are just whizzing by, I have been so busy with work, I have to do presentations across Ontario 3 weeks prior to my date, so I am busy trying to figure out what I am going to present on. I know it will be here before I know it.
I am so excited, I could spit.

Hi Everyone
I haven't updated my blog in a long time. Here is what has been going on. Well as previously mentioned the letter was sent to OHIP from my doctor regarding my mental state.
I waited a week and heard nothing so I called OHIP to see what was going on. I spoke to Jean who is a wonderful lady. She told me that the medical consultant approved me for RNY, and called my doctor to ask why she wanted me to have the DS. Of course she couldn't really say, because she isn't familiar with the procedure. He wanted additional information to support the DS. I called my doctors office and the receptionist, said "Oh yeah she mentioned something to me but I wasn't listening" I guess she will call you. I was totally pissed off. I went to her office the next day and camped out on the door step, with a letter written by me for her explaining the reason for the DS. She would not see me or sign the letter, but made an appointment to see Dr. Joffe a bariatric surgeon here in Toronto to get his opinion.
I went to the appointment and there was a notice on the wall indicating that Dr Joffe could not be alone with any female patient unless there was a monitor approved by the Ministry of Health. Well it turns out he is being charged with sexual misconduct with two female patients, as well as sharing drugs with two female patients. I was totally horrified. Many years ago this man took out my gallbladder. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and continued with the appointment. His first statement was " I will not sign anything that will put money in someone else's pockets' he also indicated that if I did get the surgery not to come to him if I should have complications after. Hows that for the hipocratic oath. He did write a letter indicating that DS was a recognized procedure and that his waiting list is 5 years. This was sent to my doctor and subsequently faxed to OHIP.
Well as usual this was not enough, so I got a copy of a letter that my friends doctor had sent for her husband who had the same situation who had been approved afterwards and wrote a letter to OHIP from my doctor using the wording of that letter. This time I went to her office during the walkin time and saw her, and she agreed and had it retyped and faxed it to OHIP. That was a week ago Friday. I called OHIP on Tuesday and they had not received it, so I called my doctor had them fax it to me and then I faxed it myself. I called OHIP on Thursday, and Jean confirmed that they had received it. So now I wait, again.

I am staying positive and hope to hear soon.
