Sunday 3.24.08 -
Sunday morning arrived again and just as I've done for the past 2 years, I woke up and got on the scale.  Steady increase still occuring and I'm SO not happy about it!  I got down to 125, held steady for months at 126 and since surgery in December, I went up to 127 and now 129.4   Valentines Day I was treated to clothes at Vicky's.  I got 3 pair of pants, sweater and a suit jacket.  I washed the cords and they're snug.  Still fit, but snug.  I am NOT NOT NOT going to a size 8 NO WAY IN HELL!  I worked my a$$ off to get here and even though my foot isn't 100% it doesn't mean I have to sit around and eat like i havent before.  That being said its time to say good bye to Mr. Utz, the salt and pepper chips that accompany movies so well.  Adios Senior Tostitos con queso cheese and Se La Vi ala crepes!  You might mean healthy with your ounce of cheese inside, but all that butter? Au Revoir Pour L'éternité!

Today was a bad day with my RHG as most weekends are.  My nutritionist said cinnamon is a great spice known to help regulate blood sugar.  "try it wherever you can" she said.. Hey, why not right, don't have much to lose unless you count the joys of (sign 1) stomach getting itchy almost like an alarm preparing you for a bad crash..  Shortly after the hands get shaky, the legs, you feel light headed, just want to lay down and sleep through it, but thats the worst thing!  Letting your blood sugar drop is very taxing on your liver and pancreas.  Its important to stop it just as fast as it starts.  Todays snack while resting in bed seemed to help!

A fresh crunchy green apple, dusted with cinnamon and dipped in crunchy peanut butter for protein stabolization.  Hmm maybe you're thinking cinnamon and peanut butter?? Hey, you never know what you'll like if you don't try right?

weekend treats...

Feb 18, 2008

2.17.08 - weekend at home, I made 2 yummy treats!  I found a recipe for protein fudge on the Grad board.. WOW I'm hooked!

Simple to make and a great way to get rid of the protein you've got laying around that you either stopped or can't choke down anymore!

PROTEIN FUDGE
1/4 cup margarine (butter doesn't work)
1/2 cup (heaping) peanut butter - chunky or creamy either will work
3 scoops chocolate protein
sweetener if you think it needs it (i found it sweet enough without this)

mix margarine and peanut butter together until melted add protein, stir, taste and either add sweetener to your taste or put in a square sandwich ziplock container, pop it in the fridge for a couple hours then slice into 9 squares and devour!! 10 grams of protein per piece sooo good!

my other creation this weekend was CHEESECAKE, thats right I said the sinful word!!  As I near my 2 year surgiversary I notice my "protein box" is still on the counter with about 15 (from 80) protein powder samples, protein cold drink powders, couple protein soup packets left and the cheesecake pudding I bought at Nashua Nutrition last time I was there... Searched the cabinets to see whats available and there they all are... The ingredients to make.............

This....

Strawberry cheesecake.  It came out great, should have made more since BF sampled, enjoyed and ate 2 of the 4 pieces!

Very quick to make, heres the ingredients:

Crush maybe 15 cookies and add a little butter to combine.  Press into a square sandwich ziplock container, allowing to go up the sides.

Make 2 packets of cheesecake pudding by adding 4 oz milk (2 oz per packet).  Let sit for a couple minutes to thicken then pour over crust.  Let sit in the fridge for a few hours then top with your favorite preserves!  sssshhhhh don't tell em its healthy and sugar free!  :)

About me...

Oct 14, 2006

I'm 35 years old and have been overweight since I was in the 5th grade.  I remember the smallest size being a 12 and has only gone up from there.  I've been looking into bypass surgery for about a year now, but had an awful insurance that didn't even cover blood work required during a physical.  Once my insurance changed, I persued surgery options with Dr. Drinkwater in Nashua.  During the beginning steps I leared that Dr. Drinkwater was leaving the hospital and going to head another hospital, but not do surgeries.  Since then I learned of Saints Memorial in Lowell.  The first week of December I went to the "info night" to get more information about surgery.  A week later I called and scheduled an appointment for a consult.  The end of Dec was my first appointment.  I was given a sheet with all kinds of tests and appointments that had to be completed before being considered for surgery.  It was then I realized I just took a serious step in the right direction and was ready to have the surgery done...
