As everyone always says... My story is pretty much the same as everyones. I started out as a chubby kid, a chubby preteen and then thinned out at about 13 (weighed probably 130lbs. and thought I was chubby at the time mind you I'm only 5'2" so I did have a little pooch that I would love to have again lol). Around the age of 15 I started doing the slim fast thing and taking water pills because the water pills were the quick way to get rid of excess weight and as well all know when you drink more water you regain the water weight... I slowly gained up to about 145 by the age of 18. When I was 18, I got married (still married to him today 11.5 years later and loving him more then ever!!!) and gained 12 lbs within 3 months. Then 6 months after we were married, I became pregnant with out first baby (a daughter) I shot all the way up to 185 lbs with that pregnancy and needless to say I didn't lose all the weight after she was born, maybe 15 lbs of it. When she was 6 months old, I unexpectedly became pregnant with our son and shot up to 212 lbs then when he was born lost about 12 lbs. Then in the next 7 years to come I yoyo'd up and down getting as low as 175 at one point. Then in April of 2008, I found out once again I was pregnant. I had her in December 2008 and at delivery weighed in at 246. To this day (June 2009) I have lost 13 pounds. I have been considereing WLS for 3 years now and even checked it out at one point years ago and insurance didn't approve it then. Since then though, both my parents have had the surgery and look ABSOLUTELY fabulous and now it's my turn to take the journey and I am looking forward to the changes this tool will bring to myself and my family. WLS has been so good to my parents. I am so glad I shared my desires with them because me sharing with them that I wanted to get it is what got them into it and it has changed their lives drastically. To date my mom went from a size 24 to a size 8 and has had plastics and my dad has lost 150 lbs to date. I am so thankful I have their support and the support of my DH I don't know what I'd do without them.
On another note, other then telling my husband, my parents, my brother and sister, and my children I haven't told anyone else that I am doing WLS. I am not sure if it's because I am afraid I won't get insurance approval or if it's because I don't want people to blab it to the world because I want it to be my news and I don't want them to think I'm a failure for not being able to lose the weight without WLS.
Anyways, that's how the story goes. I am nervous bout this journey but watching my parents go through this I am confident that they will help me and that I will have plenty of support from all ofmy family.
