March 12, 2008 Update

Mar 12, 2008

I am currently about 114.  A little on the thin side per my doc and he would like me to take meds to gain weight back but I refuse to take them at this point.  I know that most people regain weight at year 2 or 3 and I don't want to gain back now and more then.  If I feel I am unhealthy then I will revisit that issue but until them I am holding off on that.

It bothers me that everyday at work someone tells me I need to eat and I'm waisting away.   I get very annoyed with this.  If it were a friend who was really concerned it wouldn't bother me that much but the people who tell me this aren't close friends.

I never thought I would struggle finding clothes after surgery but having lost so much weight I struggle to find my size and have had to resort to the little girls sizes.

I am truely the happiest and healthiest I've ever been and wouldn't change a thing and would have surgery again if I had to...

1 yr 1 mo and 1 wk post op RNY

Nov 13, 2007

I am currently weighing in at 115 lbs this morning.  I am on the path of trying to maintain my weight but seem to keep losing a few pounds here and there.  My daily routine M-F is as follows:

5:00 am wake-up for work
5:40 am I have my first protein shake on my way to work
Until prior to breakfast I have hot tea and water and take my first round of vitamins
8:30 am I have Dannon Light and Fit Carb and Sugar control yoguart Vanilla Cream with 1/4 mixed berries
9:30 I take my morning break and walk for 15 mins
10:30-11:00 I do my afternoon shake
12:30 I walk during my lunch for about a half hour
1:00 I have lunch -Healthy Choice County Herb Chicken---This is so yummy (I don't eat the veggies just not enough room) I eat about 3/4 of the chicken and potatoes and have some of the crisp
3:00 Walk on my last 15 min break
3:15-4:00 I might have a snack depends on the time of month and how I am feeling
5:00-6:00 pm I make dinner and have a few bits with the family (I will sometime make me eggs and chorizo and have that by myself)
7:00 pm last protein shake before I get ready for bed

I drink water and hot tea through-out the day.

Well that's about how my day goes.  I sure hope what I am doing is ok...It seems to be working.

If you haven't tried Healthy Choice meals they are great for work.  I don't feel bad not eating everything because the chicken is so darn good.

It's been a wonderful year and I am hoping to continue on the road to success.

6 Mo Post Op RNY/3 wks PO Gall Bladder & TT

Apr 06, 2007

I am 6 Mo post op and down past the drs goal weight for me.  I currently weight 144-146 depending on the day wearing a size 10 for the first time since I was a teenager.  My doctor doesn't want me to lose anymore weight.  I told him I am fine with my weight between 150-130 and would like to tone my thighs and arms some.  I returned back to work yesterday three weeks earlier than expected but seem to be doing ok.  I do get tired but I take a cat nap during my lunch hour.

I did open my incision a little yesterday near my breast bone and that does hurt so I am now wearing my compression garmet really tight to hold it together so it wont seperate anymore.

March 6 07 Worst day since RNY surgery

Mar 24, 2007

I woke up in the morning feeling great traveled to Seattle for work and came back to my office right before lunch.  I ate a small piece of a protein bar and just didn't feel right.  I thought it was stuck somewhere and was just hoping with time I would feel better.  At about 2 pm I went in to my bosses office letter her know that I wasn't feeling good and was going to see how things went.  I went back to my desk and tried everything I could to feel better.  I even tried to lie down (I keep a throw blanket and travel pillow at my desk) but that made it worse.  About two hours went by and the pain was getting worse I finally made it back into my bosses office and told her i had to leave right then that something wasn't right the pain had now consumed my whole right side into my back. They offered to take me home and I declined but called my husband to let him know I wasn't feeling well and if I didn't make it home soon to come look for me.  I made it home not sure how because I don't remember the drive at all.  My husband wanted to take me then to the hospital but I refused thinking it was just my food stuck and I wanted to go to bed so he helped me in bed.  He had school and I told him I would be fine and that he should go and just take his cell phone just in case.  My older boys were home so I felt fine.  I slept for a few hours and felt much better when I woke up and decided to eat a few peanuts and got sick all over again.  My husband was home then so I called him to my room and I called my surgeon who told me to go right away to the ER he was on call today.  We arrived at the ER at 9:45 pm and waited, waited and waited some more there were only 5 people in front of me none of which were that ill but it took until after midnight before I got called back.  From there every little step took hours.  They had already had my blood work back so they knew something was going on and said I needed and ultrasound and maybe a CT.  So the nurse brings me this drink I have to drink for the ultrasound and I start drinking it and ask him what was in it and he tells me apple juice.  I explained that apple juice has too much sugar and that I can't have it.  So it took about another hour before he came back with it mixed with just water.  This was about 2:30 am so I drank it and then had to wait for it to do it's work.  Finally they take me to ultrasound and there is something wrong with my colon and gallbladder and they want to now do the CT.  It took them until 7:30 am to get me to CT and my gallbladder was filled with stones and sludge.  They didn't do any other tests for my colon.  I was admited to the hospital to have it removed and ended up leaving without it taken out because of scheduling.  I decided I just wanted to go home and rest.  I was feeling much better at this time.  We scheduled my surgery for the next week on Thursday.  For the next week I couldn't eat anything without feel pain so I just drank my protein shakes.

21 weeks post op 2/27/07

Feb 27, 2007

Well I am 21 weeks post op and finally in a grove with things.  My weight loss is very slow at this point.  I have only lost a few pounds each week for the last couple of weeks but will take any loss vs a gain.  I am trying to get more protein shakes in but that seems to be hard for me.  I am would am glad I had the surgery and have no second thoughts about it.  I am currently wearing a size 12 pants and m/l shirts.  Before I had surgery I wore an 18/20 in both pants and shirts.  I work out at least once a day but sometimes I go to the gym after work as well and do another hour of cardio.  I was doing weights but was told to stop doing anything but cardio because I am getting a incesional (sp)  hernia.  Last night I was taking my son (the 15 yr old)  to wrestling practice and when I got out of the car he tells me to hurry up skinny minnie...that was a WOW moment for me.  Hearing my son acknowledge my weight loss.

I hope everyone is doing great and will continue my story in the near future.

16 weeks post op appt

Jan 26, 2007

Well I had my 4 mo post op appointment with the dr on Wed.  I was felling great until that night (I think it must be from the blood draw they did)  well since then I have no energy, I get dizzy when I get up and walk or make a sudden movement and my eyes hurt they burn and are blurry.  Not sure if this is normal but I feel like crap.  I have been off early the past three days and all I can do is make it to my bed to lay down.  I am down to 179 and prior to Wed I was feeling great.

Jan 10 (14 Week 1 day post Op)

Jan 10, 2007

Well it sure has been a journey.  I have been working out twice a day most days doing cardio during my lunch at work (a little over 2 miles) then at night I go to 24 hr fitness and work out doing cardio then either my upper body or lower body switching each time I go.

As of this morning I was down a total of 58 lbs.  My starting weight was 243 and I am at 185.  I can see the weight loss everywhere except the one place I wish I could see gone.

Right now I can wear a size 14 pants and an large or xlarge shirt just depends on the length of the shirt.  I am finding that they don't make shirst long enough for my likings in the Misses section or it's just so different shopping in that section that I'm lost.

Insurance Approval......12/21/06

Dec 22, 2006

I had called my insurance company earlier in the week to make sure they received everything from my doctors office and was told they had and were reviewing my file for approval.  I received an explanation of Benefits yesterday they approved my surgery.  What a wonderful Christmas gift.  I couldn't have asked for anything more this year.  My hospital bill was for $61,830 and insurance paid $4,546.52.  I only owe $76.03 so far.  I stil have the drs portion to go through and the Anestheisaologists bill but that can't be much more than a couple $100's for copays.

12/18/06 11 wks post op

Dec 18, 2006

Tomorrow I will be 11 weeks post op I am currently weighing 194 down 49 lbs.  Last night I experienced dumping from pasta.  I was so sick.  It took about an hour to affect me but lasted almost two hours.  I have never felt so sick in my life.  Child birth was easier than what I experienced last night.  I was dry heaving, sweating, very weak, and couldn't lie down because my stomach hurt so much, I also had trouble with my breathing.  The only relief was to have my husband help me stand up otherwise I would have fallen down I was that weak.
I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.
