I'm a 42 Year old wife and mother of 3 children. I do not work outside the home at a normal job but I do help my husband with some of the work on our rentals, mostly the paperwork, collecting rents and painting (he hates to paint). I also am a GirlScout Leader, help with our BoyScouts and volunteer in our local schools as a SMART reader. I am a die-hard sports fan (as long as it is a sport that my children compete in)!! That would include Swimming, Karate, Track and Golf.
I am married to John, a firefighter who had WLS surgery May, 2006. He had a VSG with Dr. Feng/LapSF in San Francisco. We have been married for 10 years. John had excellent results after his WLS, he lost 120 lbs. in about 8 months. He didn't lose the weight just by having the surgery though, he began to work out like crazy and this helped him to lose and build LOTS of MUSCLE at the same time. He is my inspiration!
I have never been overly obese but for the last 6 years I have been at about a 34-35 BMI. Recently, I decided I was sick of being overweight and was going to have a VSG. My family was worried (to say the least) but they all decided to support my decision. John said Dr. Guillermo Alvarez in Mexico was doing the VSG and that he knew someone local who had their surgery there. I started my research on Dr. Alvarez on June 4, 2007. I called Dr. Alvarez Office on June 6, 2007. I had my VSG with Dr. Alvarez on June 18, 2007.
