Hello!
I'm an army wife and mother of four boys.

We currently live in southern Oklahoma on an Army post.

I have struggled with weight my whole life. My mother was my role model and she is now morbidly obese. It's very sad to see how much pain she is in due to all the fat she is carrying around.

I had some success in losing weight in the past, but never in keeping it off.

I recently went in to see my doctor for a physical and he noted that I had elevated blood pressure and that I was of course obese. He suggested that I go to a seminar that Dr. Reyes was giving about gastric surgeries that were being offered here.

I have chosen to have the sleeve surgery done. I think it is the best option as far as the less invasive between the Roux-en-Y and sleeve. It doesn't leave as much foreign material in your body as the other two do either. Plus the added benefit that it might decrease the hormone Ghrelin that is associated with appetite and obesity, plus there have been some patients that were diabetic before this surgery and after it helped to eliminate diabetes (I do know that not all diabetic patients were 'cured' of diabetes after having this surgery).

So for me the sleeve procedure seems the best option.
