4 day post-op

May 27, 2011

Was admitted May23rd and its a good thing I did my research. I've listen to those that have been on this path quiet along time. Has made my journey alittle better to tolerate and understand what my body is going through with it's new wittle tummy.

In short, surgery went "perfectly well" as my surgeon put it. Was relieved that I didn't have the open surgery but the lapascopic...woohoo! Seems that was my only concern. While in the hospital with the nurses taking vitals and doing my first weigh in after surgery I just about fell over with shock. I expected my weight to climb alittle with fluids but almost 10lbs worth since before they took me into surgery!! Guess the worse part of the experience was the drain...OMG the drain. Everytime the nurse would come in to empty it, the straining process brought me off the bed. I was so glad to have that thing taken out. Took my breath away when they did.

Was discharged Wednesday morning with instructions of mushy diet. Thrilling! Of course getting in the liquids has been challenging and barely doing so. Guess its the norm.

Today, 4 day post-op, been trying to control the pain. I don't like taking pills but doctor told me not to deprive myself and keep pain in check. So today I'm wanting to sleep in more than have been since the surgery. I was pretty much up and around in the hospital and at home, but today I'm tired...no fever (thank goodness) but just tired. Hoping this is the norm. Gas is no problem like before...thank goodness.

So, I hope sharing some of journey will help others. No regetful feelings as of yet and hope I don't. Going to weigh in this weekend to see where I'm at. Haven't done so since EARLY Wednesday morning. Came done couple pounds from the initial weigh in after surgery...thankfully. So...we'll see how progress is going.

Happy Sleeving my fellow "Losers".
