hula hooping!

May 08, 2009

I have always enjoyed hula hooping and taught my daughter years back.  Well about a week ago I got the hula hoops out and I can still do it.  I have been doing it while watching tv at night...watching the news when I get up in the mornings.  I can "feel" a difference in my mid section!  I went online and was so excited to learn that it is a great way to burn calories and to shape up your waistline, hips, stomach.  It's low impact and a great way to get back into moving your bod!  I read that you can burn 100 calories in 10 minutes !  I am going to start using more than one and incorporate some dancing into it!  Ive also bought a belly dancing dvd!

I FEEL WONDERFUL

Apr 03, 2009

ok, it has been just a little over a week since my surgery and I am feeling terrific!   Of course, the fact that I had lost 9 pounds in 5 days has played a big part in that feeling.  I am astonished at how good I feel without having all the food I was eating before.  I went back to work on Thursday, exactly a week after the surgery, and I was not sitting there contemplating my next snack and my next meal like I would have been normally.  I have energy!  I am not feeling sluggish and sleepy at work!  I am still a little sore at the biggest incision so I won't be doing cartwheels and sit ups in the near future but I am able to walk and shop (of course!) and today I plan to mow the lawn.  My mower is self propelled  and I won't do all the weedeating and extras today.  I am sooooo delighted to actually see a difference in my appearance!  My face seems smaller so I had to have a new pic but I can't figure out how to make it override the first avatar...oh well!  Anyhow, thanks to all of you who have offered support and I hope that I can do the same!

PS.....I was dumped over the weekend by the man I had been dating recently  but I am so happy about losing weight I am coping with it's for the best because pretty soon I am going to be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much for him to handle anyhow!

It is done!

Mar 27, 2009

I arrived at Rex Hospiital in Raleigh, Nc around 7 a.m.  My dear friend, Dean, was with me.  My surgery was to be at 9:30.  We waited patiently in the pre-op room.  9:30 came and went....I was getting a little nervous.  Finally the pre-op nurse stopped by and said that Dr. Moran was still with the first patient.  I am assuming that person was unable to be done laproscopically because they finally came to get me around 12.  Everyone on the team was so friendly.  I did not really feel scared at all.  I do not even remember going to sleep.  At 1:30 or so I was being moved from the operating room to the recovery room.  I could see the clock.  Someone was waking me up and telling me that everything was over and I had done great.  It didnt take me long at all to become alert.  I wasnt feeling any pain but I sure was thirsty.  The nurse was able to bring me ice chips.  I had to wait in the recovery room for aover 2 1/2 hours for a room.  My friends in the waiting area called the recovery room at least twice asking about me.  Later they told me they were scared something was wrong because it was taking so long, although the nurse told them I was fine.  I have slight obstructibe sleep apnea, so I was required to stay overnight.

I had been required to do a liquid diet for two days prior to the surgery.  Amazingly, I did great with that.  I felt myself "pulled" to the pantry a couple of times but was able to walk away empty handed.    I was very grateful when my meal arrived that evening at the hospital though lol.  It was vegetable broth, cherry jello, and grape juice.  I only consumed a small amount and was so surprised to not feel hungry.  I sipped on some crystal lite throughout the evening.  I was a little sore through the night but was able to get up and take short walks.  I was able to get out of bed by myself.   It was nothing compared to the c-section.  My worst pain was the urge to "pp" and hardly any would come out.  I was very miserable for a few hours with that.  Finally, around midnight, things began to flow good.  What a relief.

I was released around 9 Friday morning.  I slept most of the day and night.  I have been sipping on crystal lite, had a couple servings of broth, a jello, and a few Edy's sugar free fruit juice bars.  Still not hungry.  What a great feeling.  I am so excited because i KNOW that I can do this now.

Will post more later.
