Where to begin?  I've struggled with my weight ever since I can remember.  I've had several significant weight losses the last being a 95 lb. loss from Jan. 2001-Dec. 2002.  I managed to keep most of that off until the fall of 2008.  While I don't want to use this as an excuse, last fall was extremely difficult. My sister, my best friend, had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was in a noticeable decline.  I turned to my other friend, food.  My sister was one of the first people to have WLS at our small hospital in KS.  She lost over 150 lbs and looked fantastic.  Ironically, the last two months of her life she was trying to gain weight.  Ultimately, Chris lost her battle with PC and died early Christmas morning 2008.  When I "woke up" in January 2009, I knew I had to get back on track before I regained all the weight.  I made up my mind to proceed with WLS and was approved in April.  My surgery is scheduled for June 30.  I dedicate my journey to my big sis.  If she were here, she would be my biggest fan.
