4 year surgiversary

Sep 18, 2011

Yesterday was my four year surgiversary. I am happy to say that I have maintained my weight loss, even though I never attained the goal that was set for me. It is still a struggle every day to make the right food choices, but overall I am happy with the results. After all this time, my only regret was that I wish I had the surgery earlier. But I guess I was not ready before then. I have made some wonderful friends along my journey who have helped me and I do not think I could have done it without them They are such a source of support and keep me on the right track. When I had my surgery, I did not think that I needed the support group or to make new friends in the WLS community. I was so wrong about that - I think that support is the most important part of the journey. So that would be my biggest piece of advice for newbies - get out to the support group. If it does not seem to click with you - go back again - over time you will find that there will be at least one person there who has a similar life story. You may not get something out of every meeting, but you may lend some support to another person.
