Last Sunday started out as a beautiful day.  Hubby and I had spent the morning snowshoeing and it was great.  Planned on going back after lunch.  During lunch I started having stomach pains and figured I had eaten too fast or too much.  Instead of feeling better I was getting worse.  At about 5 pm hubby said he was taking me to EMMC ( an hour drive away).  After awhile in the ER it was discovered that I had a herniated bowel and was going into surgery.  Dr Dayhem was the surgeon available.  She was so great.  I went into surgery at about 12 midnight and came out at 5 am.  I got discharged on Tuesday.  Other than a very tender stomach I am feeling great. 

Yesterday I received my letter of approval from the insurance co.  It was sure fast.  Now I just have to wait for the surgery date.  I am so excited and anxious. 

This is turning out to be my year.  January 8 I started the process to lose weight forever.  April 12 had cateract surgery on my right eye and then on April 26 had cateract surgery on my left eye.  For the first time in 46 years I am glasses free which I am finding a little hard to get used to.  I only wear readers for now.  Yesterday I met with Dr. Haung for the first time and he stated that I am a good candidate for the RNY surgery.  Now I just have to wait to hear from my insurance.  I am hoping to hear from the insurance company with good news before my birthday (6 weeks).  That would be the best birthday gift I could get.  This year is the birth of the healthier  new me.  Hurray!!!!

I met with the surgeon today,  HURRAY!!!!  I have been accepted as a candidate for surgery.  Now I wait for the usual insurance thing to go through.  I can hardly wait to start my new way of life as a healthier person. 

Saw my PCP today and had a great visit.  I have lost another 2 pounds making a total of 6 pounds so far.  Here's to many many more.  Also in Dec. my A1C was 7.1 and today it was a 6.9.  I am very happy with this visit.
