Still going strong :o)

May 09, 2012

Still on the diet my doc put me on 3 wks ago and going strong :o) Just 4 more lbs to lose and I will be at the weight I left off 6 mo's after my weight loss surgery in 2009 .  Finally, my plateau has been broken !  I'm probably averaging about 90 grams of protein and at least 80 oz's of liquids a day. I try to get 2 hrs total of a brisk activity in a day ( walking, yard work, housework, swimming, ect ). My fibromyalgia still gives me fits w/hip, knee, and/or back pain but I'm managing to push thru it most of the week. On my bad mornings, I just give my body time to let my meds kick in and then I try to do my exercise in 15 to 20 minute increments.

Still hanging in there !

Apr 24, 2012

I ended up gaining back a total of 18 lbs to weigh in at 211 lbs. I lost 3 lbs on my own by the time I saw my surgeon for a follow up visit a week ago. She suggested I try the ProScript liquid diet for the next 3 months, you can find the info, videos, and protein mixes on drdiet.com . I started on it 6 days ago and have already lost 6 lbs which puts me currently at 202 lbs !
You can use your shake mixes to make shakes, puddings, or hot chocolate with and they are very tasty ! The protein soup mixes are great as well. You are allowed to add seasoning and flavorings as long as they are under 10 calories a serving. I add a teaspoon of taco seasoning mix and a tablespoon of Chef Paul's salt free seasoning to my chicken soup mix. It tastes just like taco soup and is so good ! I add Zattaran's root beer flavoring, or LouAnn's strawberry flavoring to my vanilla shakes as well. No need to add sweetener as the protein mix is sweet enough. I'm on strictly liquids for 7 days so after tomorrow I can start adding various food groups in , one week at a time. I just need to lose 57 lbs so hoping I will get there by the end of summer :o)

Staying aware.... my new goal :o)

Nov 30, 2010

I think my main downfall is not staying aware of not only what I'm eating but when I'm eating. Emotions ran my eating habits for years. It's so much easier to do for everyone else in the family at the drop of a hat but I make myself wait all the time.
I have the "but first...." disease bad, lol. "But first...I need to run these errands, do these chores, paperwork, help out so and so, ect.
Exercise alone is not going to budge the last of my weight off. Going back to the basics of calorie and carb counting.
I am eating too many carbs and my doc says I should cut my calories back to under 1,000 a day.
Trying to keep a journal and pre-plan my meals and daily calories but sometimes I miss a few days before getting myself back on track w/pre-planning again.
I gained weight for the first time since my surgery, 8 lbs! My youngest went off to college this year and some former bad eating habits crept back in again. I don't keep "snacks" in the house but even healthy food or drinks have calories and I was staying up late and eating in front of the TV. Yikes! The weight gain got my attention and I started going to bed earlier and reaching for a book or my ipod instead of food when feeling the blues. I've lost 5 of the 8 pounds over the Thanksgiving holidays.
I'm back to weighing myself weekly and being more aware of what and when I'm eating again. I've worked too hard to lose and keep off the weight since having my surgery to gain any of it back. My 2yr date is in February so I know its not unusual to gain a few pounds back by this time. Still, its hard not to freak out w/myself when I know how easy it can spiral out of control if I let it.
Bad habits are nipped back again. Just trying to stay aware of what I'm doing and making time to pre-plan my meals.
Current weight is now at 196.

Hi All

Jul 21, 2010

Well, it's been 6 months since my last post and my weight is still the same at 194 lbs. I've been  swimming up to 30 laps w/jogging laps in between swimming , 4 days a week since the middle of May , now that my back is doing better. My weight still has not budged. My surgeon wants my thyroid rechecked since I quit taking my synthroid back in Sept "09. Also she suggested mixing my exercise routine up by wearing weights on my ankles when I jog laps in the pool and to drink my protein shakes right after exercising. So far, I'm still stuck at 194.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them !!

Hello Everyone :o)

Jan 25, 2010

Just posting to say I've got my weight down to 194 lbs now.
Been down in my back still so haven't been able to exercise.
I've managed to keep my weight down regardless though.
Still trying to get more liquids down.... my biggest problem right now other
than lack of an exercise routine.
I have my protein and eating habits on a good routine..... just need to drink
water more than I do . Hope everyone else is doing good :o).

One more pound......

Nov 14, 2009

Hi All,
My weight is at 200 lbs.
I just need one more pound to finally get myself back under 200 lbs :o).
My weight is finally coming off again... one pound at a time but I'll take it :o) .
I started adding extra protein throughout my day and that kick started my weight loss again.
This is my 2nd day where my fibromyalgia is finally feeling better so catching up on housework. The last week was h*** with my shoulder, back , and hips hurting so bad it made me nauseated.
Glad I'm feeling better so I can catch up on some things and then hopefully get back to my exercise routine.

Nevermind !

Nov 08, 2009

Okay I decided to wait.......
After reading so many opinions and concerns on the plastic surgery forum, I talked it over with my husband and decided to wait on any plastic surgery procedures. I'll get a second opinion around March and hopefully I will be much, much closer to my goal weight by then.
     I'll keep you posted :o) !

I'm having SmartLipo in 2 weeks!

Nov 08, 2009

Hi All,
I lost back down to a 201.5. I started drinking a cup of coffee or hot tea a day plus most days I drink protein shakes
for two of my meals to cut calories and carbs. I'm still not able to exercise as I've got bursitis in my rt shoulder and my lower back is still giving me fits with all the weather fronts changing each week here in Louisiana. If the water wasn't so cold, I'd get in the pool and swim out my aches and pains. I get about two good days a week but take advantage and mop/sweep/ect so my home doesn't get too scary, lol. I guess that can count as a pretty good workout?
I'm having SmartLipo done to my abdomen and chin/neck area on the 18th of this month. I get my pre-op measurements, paperwork, ect done this Wednesday and will have my procedures the following Wednesday. They use a local anesthetic instead of putting you completely under so I will be awake during the 5-6 hours it takes to get done. I get to bring my ipod to listen to :o). Total cost is $8,750 because I am having the Vasor done as well and I have to pay that up front tomorrow. My hubby is the best !!
Next year I hope to have enough money to get my breasts done and any loose skin removed that I might have on my lower tummy and arms. So far my arms and legs are shrinking well but I'll probably have some loose skin even after the SmartLipo to be removed from my lower tummy next year. I won't know for sure until 6 months after the SmartLipo is done.
I don't expect to be perfect, just close to my old normal self before my weight gain :o).
Wish me luck !
hugs,
TerSue

Arrrggghhh !

Nov 01, 2009

Hi All,
Well I have gained back 4 lbs since I haven't been able to exercise due to low back again. I think 2 lbs is water weight because I lose and regain it every few days. I'm pretty frustrated and I feel fat, fat, fat ! Hoping the weather gets better so my back will ease up enough to do my walking DVD again. I've got to rethink my current diet and make some changes. Maybe increasing my water and drinking green tea will help. I don't think I'm getting too much sodium and I keep my sugar grams under 8 grams per meal or snack. My protein and energy drinks are sugar free as are my popsicles so I don't think sugar is an issue either. I must be getting too many carbs? I will have to watch how many carbs are in the foods I prepare and go from there. Wish me luck :o).

Lost two more pounds :o)

Oct 09, 2009

Hi All,
I lost two more pounds today which makes a total weight loss of 3 lbs in one week !  I did 2 miles a day for 7 days straight, then I took a break for two days and did 2 miles yesterday. I'm doing well with the 2 miles but will stay with that for 5 more days before I add the 3rd mile to my exercise routine. If it seems to be too much at one time I will do 2 miles in the morning and 1 mile in the afternoon. That way my fibromyalgia won't give me extra fits.
I'm 61 pounds from my goal weight now and I've lost 70 lbs in 7 months. My sz 16 pants are baggy in the rear and legs but I still can't zip up those sz 14's yet. Hoping by the end of the month I will be in those sz 14's. I want a tummy tuck so bad but am trying to be patient because I know when I reach 140 lbs my tummy won't be much of an issue anymore.
