Two years later.......136lbs, size 4.  I did reach my prior goal of 130, but I just didn't look right to myself....I'm more comfortable in the 135lbs range, so voila, I'm strictly maintainence from here on out.  Really nothing more to say, trust me when I say, if I can do it (The Former Queen of Krispy Kreme) anybody can do it.

At Goal!!!

Apr 14, 2008

In 13 months I have reached my goal weight of 140 --- and of course I decided I'm not completely satisfied...SOOOO ... my new goal weight of 130 is in effect.  Also shopping for a plastic surgeon in hopes of getting a tummy tuck by early next year.  It seems I have finally gotten a handle on what I can and cannot eat and getting used to this new lifestyle.  No soda, No burgers, Practically no bread/pasta/rice (I did cheat on this on a few times) and No cigarettes in over a year.  I feel like a brand new woman!!!

One Year!!!

Mar 02, 2008

Just three days shy of my one year bandiversary and I'm feeling great!!!!  I am down 79lbs, just 12lbs short of my goal weight.  Down from 221 to 142 lbs and in a size 4....AMAZING!!!  I couldn't be happier.  I have also helped two friends get the lap band and they too have lost an amazing amount of weight thus far.  I can't say enough wonderful things about this procedure. As long as you stick to the rules and commit to the lifestyle change the results are awesome.  My only regret is that I didn't do this procedure much sooner!!!  Also, I am off ALL the blood pressure and asthma medication.  God is good!!!

Lovin' this Band!!!

Aug 26, 2007

Haven't posted in a while, but I'm happy to say that I'm doing Great!!!  Now down to a size 10...and OMG I haven't worn a size 10 since Jr. High!!!  I've had three fills thus far.  I don't know how full my band is, and quite honestly I dont really care...just so long as it keeps on workin.  I'm still slowly learning to listen to the warning signs from my body telling me when I've had enough to eat. Sometimes its so hard to not eat those last 2-3 bites :).  I'm also still slowly adjusting to sipping and not guzzling.  Bad habits are hard to break.  Overall, this is the best decision I could have ever made for my health.  I dont regret a thing.

My First Band Fill

Apr 10, 2007

Today I went in for my first band adjustment.....I was TERRIFIED!!!  I didnt know what to expect after reading so many different stories on this site about painful fills, and having to be stuck numerous times before finding the port site.  MANNNNN, I was worried for nothing.  The entire procedure took all of 10 minutes.  They took a picture (x-ray) of my tummy which allowed me to see the band, that was really kewl.  After that my Doctor injected the port area with some numbing stuff...then he used a BIG syringe (or at least it looked big to me, I didnt see the needle) to inject the saline into the band.  After that, he had me drink some barium, and I was able to watch the liquid go down my esophagus and trickle through the stoma....that just amazed me.  So, I'm back home, my band feels good and tight again and Im ready to keep droppin these pounds like they're hot.

Oh..by the way...did I mention that I'm down 17 lbs since my surgery date...total of 26 lbs pre-op.  God is good!!!

26 days post-surgery and now down 14lbs!!! This is so amazing to me.  I havent even had a fill yet. I never thought it would be happening so fast.  I have been sticking to the program and starting Monday I get to start eating SOLID FOOD!!!  Praise the Lord. I've eaten all the tuna, refried beans and soup I can stand.  04/10 - will be my first fill, and I cant wait!!!

20 Days After

Mar 24, 2007

20 days after surgery and I am feeling like a brand new ME!!! I am now down 10 lbs post-op.  This is SOOOO AMAZING!!!  I get to resume normal exercise next week, so I am looking forward to dropping a few more pounds within the next month.  Also, I have an appointment for my first Band Fill on 04/10, I'm looking forward to that as well.  Everyone is telling me they notice the weight loss in my face, although I cant see it, it still feels GREAT to hear.  I can't WAIT until I can chew something though.  This liquid diet is for the birds.  BUT, its worth the results I'm receiving!!!

9 days out!!!

Mar 15, 2007

YESSSSS!!!!!  I went for my post-op appointment yesterday and discovered I have lost another 8 pounds.  UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I went back to work today and I am feeling GREAT!!!  My Surgeon confirmed for me that the one spot I was experiencing the most pain is in fact my port site, so I'm really glad I was able to find that out for sure.  I've been walking and walking and walking....WHEW.  I'm still on the clear liquid diet, however my Surgeon did advise me that I could blend up soup and so long as it could go through a straw, I could sip it....SWEET!!!  I have finally taken my position on the Losers Bench!!!

The Lap Band Blues

Mar 12, 2007

It's been exactly one week.  I'm having what I have coined "The Lap Band Blues".  My stomach is still sore and I still have a lot of gas.  GRRRRR!!!!  I take 4-5 sips of liquid and I feel as though I'm stuffed. I havent been able to hold more than about 12-16 oz a day. I have this constant dull pain in the center of my chest.  I just cant wait to feel normal again.  I have my post-op appointment with my Surgeon on Wednesday, I hope he can help me alleviate some of my issues.

I'm Banded!!!!

Mar 08, 2007

It's finally over!!! I'm Banded!!!  I arrived at the hospital on time...wondering OH GOD PLEASEEEE DONT LET THEM TURN ME AWAY...I was already pre-admitted.  They checked me in, sent me upstairs to a waiting room and told me to wait there.   So I waited for about 30 minutes, still wondering if they were going to turn me away.  Finally a nurse came out and told me they were ready for me and asked my boyfriend to continue waiting in the lobby.  They took me back, put me the gown, hair cap and booties, then hooked me up to an IV.  Shortly after, my Surgeon appeared, I'm ready to start praising God at this point  He asked me if I had any last minute questions.  After he and I talked a bit, the anestesiologist (sp?) came in, introduced himself, explained to me briefly what his job is and what would happen during the process of being put under.  After his explaination and asking if I had any questions for him, the RN came over, introduced himself and had me briefly explain to him the type of surgery I was having and how the surgery worked.  After my frowning up at him and giving him the rundown on the surgery, I was thinking to myself, HE SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THIS!!!!  However, he immediately told me that he asked me that because they need to know that I knew exactly what I was doing and how the surgery worked.  After all the introductions, they wheeled me into the operating room.  After that, all I remember is them telling me to take deep breaths....  I woke up to the nurses in the recovery room telling me my surgery was a success!!! I couldn't have been more thrilled. I spent the night in the hospital with mild to moderate pain, the nurses were there offering me pain medicine, however after 2 shots I declined because they also told me that the more pain medication you take, the slower your recovery period is.  So I walked, and walked and walked around the hospital floor. Then I sipped and I sipped and I sipped fluids.  The next morning I was told that I was A-Okay and I would be going home that afternoon.  At noon I was discharged and walked down to the car on my own ready to endure the 3 hour ride home.  Today I am three days post-op, very little pain, just a little discomfort.  I had a lot of problems with gas the first two days, but I continued to walk and it did seem to get better.  I am having issues getting all the 64 oz of fluid down, because after about 2-3 sips I feel stuffed like I'm going to burst.  But I just keep sipping all day.  I called my doctors office and the nurse says this is normal immediately after surgery until my body gets used to the restriction.  So now, I'm just looking forward to staying on the path to a healthier, happier me!!!!
