Protein Drinks and Creamed Soups...
Dec 20, 2010
I am so tired of them both!! Only 3 more days and I can follow a pureed diet. I'm nervous about this, however I welcome change. Let's see with prep before surgery it has been about a month now. I think protein drinks/shakes are seeping out my skin. I've tried every cream soup made. And tell me way does every pizza commercial look so damn good? I'm not normally a pizza kind of girl. Thank you for letting me vent. Now I'll get back to drinking my protein H2O.
My Update...
Dec 15, 2010
Last week this time I was I was blowing on a cup of tea, trying to get it to cool down before my midnight cut off. Tonight I enjoy sipping water. Just plain water. No Crystal Light or protein! It's a welcome from the sweet stuff I've mostly been drinking this week just so I can get liquids in.
I had surgery Dec 9th, went in that morning alone. In fact not many people know that I have had WLS. I will let select family and friend know when I'm ready for them to know. My reason for privacy was that I did not want people trying to make decisions for me, or people judging me. Anyway that morning I was pretty calm. I had said my prayers and felt great in God's Hands.
Woke up from surgery not to much pain. The only thing I wanted was for the nurses to let me sleep. Everyone that I came in contact with was pleasant, just a little demanding. "Can I get some blood'? "Are you ready for a walk"? The only problem I had was not being able to pee. The next morning a few urinary caths later and the threat of sending me home after I learned to self cath. I was walking around that hospital and peeing before I knew it. And good thing because I lived in MPLS and that night our first snow storm of the year was on it's way. I call my cousin to pick me up, first person I told. Got home about 8p that night, put on some comfy pajamas, took a pill for pain and with my fridge and shelves stocked with things that I needed, I was knock out at home in my bed. So let snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Anyway this week has gone well. I think day by day the fluid and protein intake gets better and better for me. I started to put my tree up today however I decided against it. That might have been just a little to ambitious.
Also I discovered what smell-a-VISION is. My neighbor was cooking and the loving scent of garlic and onions slipped under my door. What was going on over there. The vision of a pot roast with potatoes, carrots and gravy danced in my head. Lawd I had to make me a cup of cream of mushroom soup!
6 hours and counting...
Dec 08, 2010
I know I should be trying to get some sleep, however that's the last thing on my mind. I've just taken my first anti bacteria shower and I am trying to get down a cup of herbal tea before midnight the cut off time. Of course I have it to damn hot. I'm just trying to get a much fluid in me as possible. The object is to be as hydrated as I can. Surgery is in a couple of hour and I am pretty relaxed. I think it helped that I just kept to myself today and stayed busy. This way I don't get, " Are you nervous?" I think I have everything in order, I'm just going to go over Pre surgery info again and then try to get some kind of sleep. Will update when I'm home...

Had my echo done yesterday and received the results today... Everything looks great, I am good to go. Hungry as hell at times from following the fast however.
Pre-op History and Physical with Primary Care Provider

One more step closer to surgery.
Saw my doctor today for H and P before surgery, appointment went well. Was recommended that I have an echo-cardiogram but assured that I had nothing to worry about. After echo I should be good to go. Let's see since being approved for surgery in July; I have had a gallbladder ultrasound, sleep study (CPap machine in tow), mental evaluation, dietitian appointments, attended support group meetings, attended Pre-op Preparation Class and searched the internet in and out. I've even lost the recommended weight lost the 15 pounds already (down from 287). I think I have everything covered. Since I'm already down to my before surgery weight I think I will just enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner in moderation and start my Pre-op surgery liquid diet a day late.
