Travel sucks

Feb 15, 2007

Had to go out of town for an investigation.  Lasted a week.  Eating out every day certainly added some "excitement" to it all.  I explained to the folks who were with me why I couldnt eat much.  They were starting to think I was weird when I would only finish about half a chicken breast and none of the side items.

Everything managed to settle fairly well.  Stuck with chicken/fish dishes most of the time at dinner.

Didnt eat much besides that.  The breakfast at the hotel sucked.  Eggs were always dry.  After two attempts and getting the foamies both times, I gave up on it.  Picked up some decent protein bars (15g without tons of other crap) and that kept me going.

Lost 10 pounds the week I was gone.  almost down 90 since Thanksgiving.

Stuck at work  on this Friday.  Think I am about the only one in a building that usually holds 800+.  :)  Quet though.

Still lacking energy.  I am wondering if my calorie intake is too low.  Seems to be hovering around 800/day.  Dont know if I could bring myself to eat more though.. blech.  Never thought I would tire of eating, but it is not as fun as it used to be.

50lbs down a month out from from surgery.  Slowed down on the loss a bit, but still headed down.

3 weeks out, down 42 lbs.  Not as tired as I was, but still tired at the end of the day.

Have found that I start getting a little nauseous towards the evening.  Not sure why.  It doesnt matter how long it has been since I ate, or what it was I ate (If I ate anything solid at all).  Nothing really to worry about, just kind of an oddity.  Have yet to throw up since surgery.

Happy Holidays.

Ugh.. work sucks.

Dec 15, 2006

First week back at work.  Even though I have a desk job, I find that I am exhausted when it comes time to go home.

Had my 2 week appointment with the Doc this week.  He released me to do anything and wants me to move towards 3 solid meals a day.  Doing great except for the being tired thing.

Down 39 lbs since week before surgery.

2 weeks out.

Dec 09, 2006

Ok, so it  will be 2 weeks tomorrow..

Down 23 lbs since the day of surgery.  :)  not too bad for 2 weeks.  In the back of my mind I am wondering if the Dr did anything....

I haven't had any pain, havent been nauseus, no throwing up.  Granted, I am only eating a tiny bit and chewing the heck out of it, but I would have thought that I would have screwed up at least once..  No hunger, except for a little head hunger the first time I smelled pizza being cooked...

Worst thing so far has been remembering to eat something (or drink a protein shake).  I sip on water all day long and if I don't watch it and stop a half hour or so before mealtime, I find that I am full of water and dont want anything.

Bad news is that I have to go back to work tomorrow.

First week after.

Dec 01, 2006

Had surgery Monday morning, was home Wed afternoon.  All went well with the exception of some extremely weird dreams the first couple nights.

No real pain to speak of.  Just discomfort.  As Dx and the boys say.  walk walk, sip sip, pee, pee.   That about sums up what I have been doing since I got home.

Was 394 the morning of the surgery.  Will have to see how it goes.  First dr appointment late next week.

3 Weeks Pre-op and counting

Its getting closer.  At this point, I just wish it were over and I was sitting on the losers bench.  I know that this time will go fast.  A little anxiety, but nothing much.  Family is supportive.  My youngest daughter is the most nervous.  She is 13 and one of my best friends.  We do a lot together.  The rest of my kids are grown but still supportive.

I have to admit, when I was in the military and the kids were all young, I worried less about dying than I do now.  Odd, isn't it?

New goal added to my list of things to do:  Climb Denali.  I lived in the shadow of it for a couple years as a kid.  Now I would like to climb the thing.

Hi all

Oct 27, 2006

Well, it turns out that the insurance wasn't as big as a pain as I thought it was.  I was pre-authorized on the first attempt.

Now comes the scary part.  Surgery is scheduled for 11/27/06.

My story?  Read any of the other posts by folks on this board...

Overweight forever... nothing works.. co-morbidities...etc.

Seeing all the sucess stories keeps me going.
