Update: I am still on my weight loss journey. Over the years I struggled with the lap band, was never able to reach my goal weight. I had to have it removed due to complications in April of 2017. Thus, due to insurance not covering a revision surgery I regained all of my weight and more from 2017 to 2022.
I started to have health issues again - high blood pressure, heart palpitations, pre-diabetes and pain in both of my knees. My mobility was terrible I had started to use a cane to help me walk. So on 4/25/2022 I decided to have RNY (gastric bypass) surgery and so far at 8 months post op I have lost over 100 lbs. I am feeling so much better and my mobility is greatly improved. I hope to continue to get better and better and reach my goal weight of 175 lbs within 12 - 18 months.

My rebirth began on Monday, March 23, 2009. That is the day that I had lap band surgery and it has changed my life. I haven't always been overweight. In fact, as a child I was called skinny mini and legs. However, I began to gain weight in my early 20s when my family doctor discovered I had an under active thyroid. I steadily gained about 10 lbs a year from the age of 24 until my current age of 39. This past year, 2008 was a wake up call for me, because my doctor informed me that if I didn't get a grip on my eating habits I was well on my way to becoming diabetic and my blood pressure was high and out of control, not to mention I was having heart palpitations and problems sleeping at night. I have a 12 year old daughter and I wanted to be a better example in regards to taking care of myself to demonstrate to my daughter a healthier way of living.
I also realized that I would like to be around to watch her develop and grow into a wonderful woman, thus I decided that enough is enough and that before I turn 40 within the next 2 years, that it would be my goal to lose the weight and make a change for the better in regards to my health and well-being. So, I did my research and attended a lap band seminar with True Results in September 2008 and thus my journey to a healthier me began and I haven't looked back. I now live by the motto to "Never accept Ordinary" and so I strive to be the "extraordinary" and it is my desire once I have reached my goal weight to coach and help others who are struggling with weight issues. I look forward to hearing from all of you with OH that share similar journeys.
