6 Months

Dec 07, 2010

I am a couple of days late on my post. December 4th, was 6 months for me since my surgery.  I am still extremely happy with my decision!  The only thing I would have done differently, was to have had it sooner.  I am finally under 200 pounds.  That happened a couple of weeks ago.  That was sure an exciting thing to see on the scale!  I am feeling great and doing great!  I started working last weekend doing home health.  I think it will be a good job.  The only tough thing is that it is a 12 hour day. That is a long time to be at someone else's house.  I have to get organized and pack my lunch to make sure I eat well on those days. Actually, eating well has been an issue the past few weeks. I am so busy with school, family and now work, that I find I am just grabbing something most days.  Finals is next week so things should straighten out again soon.  I need to get back on track with protein and vitamins before I start to get too tired.  I still love my protein powder, but have to make a point of drinking it. Exercise is another thing that is lacking in my life right now.  A good friend of mine, who I also go to school with,  just joined the gym that I belong to so when we are out of school, we plan on going together.  The gym has Zumba classes so we are excited to try those.  Hopefully it will help with the slow weight-loss.  I have lost a total of 57 pounds now.  I still can't believe it.  I want to lose a lot more, but this is a great start.  I haven't added sugar or fat into my diet, so that isn't an issue, but I don't think I am taking in enough protein and I'm not exercising so I believe that is my problem.  That should all be changing next week. I will post some pics in the next few days.  I hope everything is doing well and feeling great!!  :)

Today I had one of my biggest WOW moments to date.  I knew prior to surgery, I wore a size 2x scrubs.  I was wondering what size I currently wore so I tried on a pair of larges that my son wore when he was in nursing school.  I didn't expect to be able to get them on and if I could get them on I thought they would be really tight.  Well, not only did they go on easily, but they fit perfectly.  They weren't tight at all and were actually a little loose.  Then, I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe how good I looked compared to how I use to look in scrubs when I was heavier.  All I could say over and over was "oh my gosh!"  I then tried my old ones on and they were so huge!  They just hung on my.  What an amazing feeling that was!  It made every time I said no to food, so very worth it!!  Today is a happy day for me!!  :)  I have now lost a total of 55 pounds.  55 pounds that I will never see again!

I hope everything is having a great weekend!  :)

I can't believe how much has changed in the last five months.  I realized one big change this evening.  I have been having an extremely stressful day today.  The old me would have had some bread or candy as a stress reliever.  The new me says how about a carbmaster yogurt.  80 calories and 12 grams of protein.  Not too bad for being bad.  lol  I guess I still have to work on stress eating though.  But in all reality, I would have had another yogurt tonight in order to get in more protein, I just would have had it a little later in the evening.  :)

I hope everyone is doing great!!  :)

I still can't believe how much I am enjoying my new protein!  I drink 3 shakes a day now.  One when I get up, one in the afternoon and one right before I go to bed.  I have also changed my vitamins.  I am taking a liquid vitamin that the Max Muscle store worker told me would be really good for me.  It doesn't taste that great, but at this point, if it is good for me, I'll try it.  Not sure which it is, but yesterday was the first time in a long time that I wasn't tired.  That is a big deal for me since I have been so exhausted lately.  I hope it continues.  :)

I went to the doctor last week and while there, they gave out samples of a protein drink called MAXPRO.  I tried the strawberry flavor and fell in love with it.  It wasn't too sweet, blended easily and quickly, wasn't chalky, was light and really tasted good.  So far, it is my favorite protein shake.  I went to the store (Max Muscle) and purchased both the strawberry as well as the vanilla flavor.  I went to the store located in Riverside, California and had a great experience!  If you live close to this location, you owe it to yourself to go and check it out.  I haven't tried the vanilla yet, but I can honestly say that I really like the strawberry flavor.  It is made with a couple of different types of protein which seems to be easier on the stomach than all whey protein isolate.  I have had a few shakes already and they have not upset my stomach at all.  That is big for me since protein can make me feel bloated and nauseated at times.  You have to try this one.  I think you'll really like it!  :)

I'm a few days early, but I went ahead and posted my 5 month photos.  I honestly can't believe how fast the last 5 months have gone.  All I keep telling everyone is that this is the best thing I have ever done for myself!  I honestly wish I would have done it sooner.  I have such a long ways to go, but I never could have lost this much without having the surgery.  It is the first thing that has worked for me.  I am hoping that I continue to lose since I have so much more to lose.  I'm sure I will, but I get a little nervous at times and start to think that this is too good to be true!

I will post on Thursday, the amount of weight I have lost so far since that will be my 5 month date.

I hope everyone is doing great!!  :)

I have finally lost 50 pounds.  I honestly can't believe it!  It feels so good!  I went to buy a pair of jeans the other day and when I got them home and tried them on, the waist was too big.  Boy did that feel good.  They were easy to put on and zipped without any trouble.  What an amazing feeling.  I took them back and got the next size down and the waist was a little loose in these also.  I decided to keep these since the rest fit nicely.  They were a size 14.....woohooo! I have found that I can now wear a couple of pairs in 14 but the rest are 16's.  What an incredible journey this has been.

I am starting to crave sweets at times.  I still won't touch anything with sugar in it for two reasons.  The first, I don't want to get sick. I have been nauseated enough and have actually had the racing heart beat, and tired feeling from normal things that I eat and don't want to bring in on from stupidity on my part.  The second, is that if I am one of the people that can eat a little sugar without getting sick, I don't want to know it.  I'd rather assume it will make me really sick so I don't touch it.  As far as I'm concerned, I didn't do the surgery to go back to any old eating habits.  I want to lose weight, but I also want to eat healthy and live a healthy lifestyle.

I saw the doctor the other day.  Everything is going well, except that last month I didn't lose my full 10 pounds.  I was a couple off.  I'm not sure why except that I have been really busy and not taking in enough protein drinks.  That has changed and I'm making a point of drinking my shakes again.  I asked if I could have my labs done since I am kind of tired at times.  We'll see how they are.

Life is great right now.  I can't believe what a difference 50 pounds can do for a person.  I can't wait for 100.

I hope everyone is doing great!  :)
