I thought about surgery, but never really took it seriously because I thought I could do it myself. Until I saw a friend that had the surgery done in august of last year and she had just hit her 100 pound mark. She was so happy and so full of energy that I just thought to myself that could be me. I am scared to death of surgery, needles, etc. and scared of the risks. However, when I research it and see all the great things and how it has changed peoples lives, I feel more comfortable that this is the right choice for me. I was not overweight my whole life, in fact I used to be a lingerie model--imagine that now! :)
I broke my ankle about 10 years ago and my weight spiraled since then. Even being a mail carrier and walking all day long every day I was still at 185 and unable to move past it. That is when I found out I had diabetes. I was hesitant about the surgery until I met with my surgeon and his staff. They totally made me feel at ease. I truly believe they are the best at what they do. The education and support that they provide will help make this program more successful!
