4 years out!!!

Aug 04, 2014

Yesterday was my 4 year anniversary! Felling great. Still glad I had WLS. Have never looked back and regretted one minute.

Now for the challenges. With 4 years under my belt, I have hit challenges and have learned so many things. One important thing I have learned about this journey is WLS is only a tool. If you work it I believe you can and will keep the weight off. It's still an everyday battle. I can still eat junk and some days I do.

About 2 years out I was loosing control. I went to see a friend who had RNY and had gained back 50 lbs. she had just started making and drinking smoothies. She made me the BEST tasting green smoothie! After that I was hooked. I bought me a vitamix and began my health journey. Now it's all about what I'm putting in my body. I read more labels, I've researched and researched. It's not about diet for me now, it's about eating healthy and clean. By eating cleaning can fill up on fruits and vegetable and not worry about a thing.

In 4 years I've lost 85 lbs and I've gained 10 of it back. I'm still a work in progress. I think I will be forever. I believe I would have gained all my weight back if I didn't change my mind setting and my pallet. My sleeve still works if I listen to it.

Oh, and my friend....She has lost her 50 lbs and weighs less than her lowest after surgery. I thank her for introducing me to a healthy life style. I live in Louisiana and she lives in MO. I'm headed up there now. When I get there she is giving e a scoby and I'm giving her some kefir cultures. Don't know what that is look it up. Research eat health your worth it!!!

love Tina

So excited!

Jan 08, 2011

Today, 1/9/11 I am below 200 lbs!!!! Yup it's official 197 lbs. I can't tell you how excited I am. This was one of the major goals I had set and my scales didn't seem to be moving.
I feel like now I can reach my goal. That was a HUGE mountain to get over. Down hill from here on out.
I love my new life!!!

Merry Christmas

Dec 22, 2010

Well, here I am 3 days before Christmas and I'm down about 60 lbs!!! I really look skinnier than I am. I'm still over 200 lbs. Just looked at my BMI and I am now obese. Almost overweight. LOL Sounds so funny.
A lot has happened since my surgery. Some things I don't want to blog about.....BUT with that said I'm really proud of where I am and where I have come from.
I'm still learing how to work my sleeve. I bought a beautiful coat jacket (long) for our Christmas Banquet. I couldn't believe I was in a size 16! I bought it a few weeks before the banquet and now it is way to big. The sleeves are even to long. lol I'm going to try to take it back and get a size 14!!! I can't even remember the last time I wore a 14.
I'm going to get my blood workup done in the next 2 weeks and see where I stand on my iron and other things. The biggest thing I have had to deal with is my emotions. This is really an emotional experience. When you have used food as a comfort or answer to all lifes problems and can't do that anymore......With that said I'm still glad I did this. I'm glad I chose the sleeve over all the other WLS. NO regrets!
I hope and pray you all have a wonderful Merry Christmas and an even better New Year!!!

Today

Nov 06, 2010

Today I got on the scales and weighed in at 211!!! 11 more lbs and I'll be in onederland.... I just can't believe it.
Friday I got into a straight 16 skirt! I can't remember the last time I wore a 16.
This journey has been challenging at times. Everyday is a new experience and a new learning. I can't say I'm doing all things perfect yet. I'm striving to change. My eating sometimes is overwhelming. Not because of the amount. :-) Just trying to eat the right things and do what is best for me and my health.
My hair is falling out by the droves. I can't say I see it being thinner. Can't figure that out. I hope it stops soon though or I'm sure I will see the effects of it.
Still very grateful for my sleeve! Next time I post I'll be in onederland!!!

Today

Sep 05, 2010

I'm just amazed at how different I'm looking at just 28lbs down. I have even noticed my wrist are getting smaller. Not to mention I have lost in my feet and can't ware my favorite flip flops anymore.
Once again I'm thankful I had this surgery!
I did find a mass under my left rib cage. It is about the size of a golf ball. Only tender when proded on. I showed it to the Dr. He said that is unusual. That kinda threw me off guard. He suggested maybe a hemotoma. We'll see. I'm not going to worry to much about it. I'm just going to enjoy my new found love called my sleeve!

2 weeks out

Aug 16, 2010

This has really been a journey.
No physical problems. I think my Dr has this surgery down to a science. He was a great choice.
I would have to say clear and liq fluids were the challenge. Not really hungry just not wanting to hurt myself or over do anything. Fortunately I'm tolerating everything just fine. I have found I can down more water then before. I can probably drink close to 2 cups at one sitting.
I have lost 21lbs in 2 WEEKS!!! WOW
This week I get to move to mushies. I've got to remember to eat slow and chew chew chew. My eating habits have been bad and I eat faster than I even realize.

My money is GONE!!!!

Jul 15, 2010

Today I transfered most of my money form savings to checking. Dr and assistant is payed off. Surgery center is payed off. Will pay anestiaist (however you spell it) right before surgery.
I would never dream I would have the cash to pay for something like this. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have this surgery and the cash!!!  Thank you Jesus!
I also got my blood work up done. Will get the results tomorrow. Nothing else to do but wait. :-)
Since I have decided to do this and got my date set, I have been eating like crazy.......By the time I have this surgery I'll be sick of eating. Probably NOT!! If that was to ever happen I would be skinny without the surgery.
Ok, now just rambling....
I really am thankful for this opportunity to have WLS!!
The next time I post I'm sure I'll be sleeved and post op!!!

First Dr visit and date set

Jun 30, 2010

Today I met with Dr Borland. He was very informative and kind. I'm glad I have chose him to be my dr.
My date is scheduled for Aug 3, 9:30 am. My friend from MO is going to come and stay with me. Everything seems to be set and I'm starting to get excited. My husband appears to be more and more on board. He might even be getting a little excited.
I will write more as things transpire

May 22, 2010

May 22, 2010

Well here goes! My first blog. How exciting. I have never done a blog before so I hope I can make it interesting and informative for everyone who reads it.
I am so excited about WLS. I have decided that the gastric sleeve would be the best for me so I have a Dr appointment on June 30. So far my surgery date will be set for Aug 2. Sounds like miles away. I have been working through all the preop things I'm going to need. Blood workup, chest xray, and ekg. So far so good!
Dr Borland is the Dr I have chosen. He is by far the cheapest but not only that his reviews are outstanding. He doesn't require the mental evaluation or any other things that can up the cost of this experience.
Now all I can do is wait until the 30th and wait again until the 2nd of August.
