I grew up in a great loving southern family.  My little granny (who was 98lbs soakin wet) used to take great joy in cooking the absolute worst food for us..lol  Fried ckn, fatback in everything, cornbread etc...... I did ok til I was about 11. I had alot of sore throats and tonsilitis. Had my tonsils out in 1976 and felt so much better and ate better too..lol

When I graduated high school I weighed about 280lbs but I was happy.  Popular and part of the A crowd. World by the tail in my small town.  College was different.  In 1985 I had veritcal banding. Lost 100lbs and battled to keep it off  for a decade.  It snuck back on little by little in my 30's (and two pregnancies).  SO here I am 43yrs old and right back where I started.  Tired of fighting. Tired of spending money on every diet and diet pill.

I got remarried about a year ago and his insurance dictated  I change PCP.  I hated the thought of going to a new Dr.  I knew he would bring up weight.  He did but with so much class.  Very easy to talk to. The new PCP asked if I had ever considered WLS.  Told him about the vertical banding. He educated me that day.  Only 1 in 10 people are successful in keeping weight off with that surgery.  He also told me that my insurance would cover it if I did the 6mth diet thing. He said he'd help me. Bless his heart...

I am a Realtor (a good one lol) and I work 24/7. My youngest daugters are competition cheerleaders and gymnasts.  VERY busy life. I have my surgery date (Oct 24th).  I am excited and looking forward to a new thinner me,   Just alittle freaked out about the recovery time.  My family is very supportive (except my 11 yr old daughter - I think she is just scared though).Ready for the journey to begin......
