Hi, I started seeking WLS a year ago and I was able to jump thru the hoops rather quickly, I had already done a lot of what was needed before I knew I needed to. I had to get a cardio stress test, physc evaluation, and colonoscopy, I had all of these test completed in two months and all records sent to OHSU. Then my insurance company required a year of supervised weight loss with a physician, dietician, or RN. I have finally completed my year of supervision with my primary care physician. Now I am waiting for OHSU to approve my records to send to my insurance.
In the meanwhile I went to work full time and have my own insurance coverage and also I have insurance thru my husbands work. In January my employer changed our insurance company and they will also cover bariatric surgery now I have double insurance that will cover bariatric surgery. However I have to get thru both insurances requirements. It should prove to be interesting. I feel very blessed to be able to have insurance at all and then to discover that I have two that will cover it. WOW.
The only thing I am having trouble with is loosing the additional 15 lbs that OHSU require me to loose. I had lost about 45 lbs before seeking surgery and I seem to be stuck there. OHSU said I have to loose 5% of body weight as of my initial visit with them. That seems to be harder than I thought it would be. Since going to work all I do is sit at a computer for 8 hours a day and I dont get any exercise and no matter what I cut out I just keep hanging out where I am. I am making a concentrated effort to get these last 15 lbs off so I can have surgery.
