My story is like so many  I know. I have always been a little chubby girl as far back as I can remember. Growing up in my house, I would not have known I was overweight as I was treated just like my brother and sister were treated, but oh when I left home and went to school, I knew immediately that I was over weight. When I decided to try diets or any weight loss program, my mother was right by side even though she was not overweight. The older I got the more weight I gained and the more diets failed. Some where around the age of 25 I decided that dieting wasn't working for me and I would never do it again. I would eventually end up eating those words.

In 2001 found out I was pregnant with my daugther and now weighed around 330 pounds. The doctor informed me that it was dangerous for me to gain no more than 10 pounds during my pregancy. Later on I realized that was going to be impossible since my daugther weighed 10 pounds and 4 ounces. I actually lost weight during that pregancy but a year later on my daughter's 1st birthday I learned I was pregnant again with my son. This time I probably gained about 50-60 pounds and delivered a health 10 pounds 7oz baby boy. That means my weight was some where around 375 pounds. I decided to try and lose some of my baby weight and joined Weight Watchers. I lost about 30 pounds before I gave up and quit.

Between August 1, 2003 until April 3, 2008 my weight reached its highest point at 381 pounds. In January 2009 I was diagnosed with Diabetes and high blood pressure. I was 34 years old. I had made up my mind that I was going to lose weight for my health and to also ensure I would be around to see my 5 and 7 year old grow up. I no longer wanted them to wait for me to catch my breath at amusement parks or the mall. I had had enough of not being able to participate in every day activites and sit in normal chairs.

I went to Dr. Scott Bovard's informational seminar  in Wake Forest, NC in October 2008 and scheduled my first office visit with him for December 2008. Once I left his office I knew that I had found the RIGHT surgeron to help me with my weight loss journey. I don't regret one day for choosing Dr. Bovard or for having Lap-band surgery.
