I had surgery last feburary and am pleased to say i have lost 62#s. It has been slow, but they say that is good for you and I hope to has less loose skkin this way. I have friends who have had this surgery who had to go to the plastice surgeon afterwards to remove their loose skin, but then they have the scars.
I have started working with a trainer twice a week on top of my water aerobics twice a week. I walk a lot on my job and wear a pedometer so I can get credit for my walking at work. which is between 8,000 steps and 14,000 steps per shift.
I am so excited and feel really good. I am so glad that I had the surgery.
It is a lot of work, and people need to realize that you can't just have the surgery and expect the surgery to do your work for you. Won't work.
I have gone from BMI of 50.3 to 39.43. Does anyone know how to change the BMI on their profile so I can update mine?

I Have A Surgery Date

Yeah! I have a surgery date. I meet with the bariatric team on Jan 23rd for my preop consult, meet anesthesia,sign forms, etc... I have already had my prep labs, tests, preop clearance, education, and am so very ready for surgery.
I have surgery Monday, Feb 4th 2008. Surgery is at 0930 but I have to be there at 730 to check in. They have tol me tat Iwill have a upper gi ether the night of surgery following morning. Once the Dr. sees the results, he will order bariatric clear liquid.After a day of that I will advance to bariatric full liquid the following day and will follow that for 2 weeks. I wil see him 2 weeks afer my surgery to see my doctor. I will probably get my diet advanced to puree. I officially start my 2 week pre op diet on Jan 21st but I have already been eating that 2 meals a day to get used to it. I really love Bari Wise Vanilla Cappuccio Protein Drink (from bariatric choice.co) and sugar free
Carmel syrup (Da Vinci's) from bariatriceating.com. I also love te Wlers Light sugar free decaffinated peach tea

I have just been approved

I was approved yesterday for my surgery and found out 5 minutes later that I had to pick a new surgeon, since he will not be on the plan next year and can not fit me in this mnth. My insurance recommended Dr. David Podkameni at Gateway Bariatric Center.Has anybody out there heard of him??? I see him the first time December 19th. His office staff has been very nice to me. So far, so good.
