Hi, I'm Tracie.  I am 27 and I live in Maryland.  With the exception of a few years, I have always been overweight.  When I was in high school, I tried the Slim Fast plan.  Yes, you read that correctly - high school and Slim Fast in the same sentence.  Surprisingly enough, I did lose 50 pounds on that plan.  However, when you are trained to drink shakes and eat their bars, you never really learn how to properly eat.  So needless to say, I gained back that 50 pounds and then some more.  Through college I continued to put on the pounds and by 2011, I was 270 pounds.  In 2011, I tried Weight Watchers for the first time.  Yes, first time.  There would be two more failed attempts after that.  Each time I would lose some weight, and each time the weight and it's friends piled back on me.  So how did I get to the point where I am going through weight loss surgery?  My Mom was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in March 2014.  While she was going through chemotherapy, she really started thinking about health - not only her's, but mine too.  She brought up the topic of weight loss surgery, and she asked if I would just go to get some information and to talk to someone.  The next day I went to the weight loss center and scheduled an appointment for an information session.  That was September 2014, and I haven't looked back once.  Currently, I am completing all necessary pre-op criteria, and will hopefully be having Gastric Sleeve surgery this August 2015.  I hope that you will follow me on this adventure!
