Hopefully, this is the begining of the rest of my new life. I had my first appointment with Dr. Hoeltgen last week. He thought I would be a good candidate for the lap band. I was so excited. I have been overweight with yo-yo dieting all my life. My best friend Christine had the surgery in December and she is my inspiration. I had been thinking about WLS for over a year, but never had the courage or support to actually start the process. I want WLS not only for me to become a healthier person, but so I will have the strength and willpower to help my 10 year old son conquer his own weight problem. At 10, Christopher weighs 167 lbs. I don't want him to face the emotional and physical challanges I have as he gets older.
I am hoping to get through all the psych junk by next week and be on my way to getting approval from BC/BS of MN soon!
