Eating to live and be healthy

Feb 06, 2025

  1. On tuesday, my gp checked my blood pressure and my weight and found that both were high but not too much.

Nevertheless, I was advised to take regular exercise and make changes in my diet in terms of the types of things i've been eating.

That will no doubt continue to be challenging because for a long time I've been eating too much high fat, sugar, salt and saturated fat so called snacks such as potato chips, peanuts, cashew nuts and alot of processed frozen things like chicken steaks highly spiced and cod in batter, all of which I tend to eat with two plates of Basmati rice with side food later such as a toasted cheese sandwich, a steak and kidney pie and from time to time, a pan of roast potatoes.

Then I tend to go and lay down and watch tv before going to sleep.

Basically, my current lifestyle isn't good for my physical or mental health.

Yet, I find it difficult to find the way to get a hold of myself and work on trying to turn my life around, including my diet.

I'm almost 58 years old and I still have low self esteem.

My nerves aren't too go and so I tend to stay home most of the time.

From time to time, I feel like giving up but I remind myself that I don't want to go out that way.

Yet, I continue feeling depressed and that's when I tend to use food but that doesn't help cause my weight goes up and it's become a cycle that I've not yet changed.

I wonder what, it will take to change my life and whether I'll be happy doing so?

Can anyone relate to my situation?

BTW, my current weight is a bit over 196 pounds and my height is 5ft 6.
