Busy living life...

Nov 19, 2007

Well, I'm down 91 to 236 lbs. Been playing at the park with the boys kicking the soccer ball around, have decided to start looking for a different job, still working 2 jobs now, holidays are approaching, etc.. It's  a busy time of the year but thankfully I've got the energy to handle it. :)   I'm so blessed to have such a supportive family and that things have gone so well. I had planned on 100 down by Thanksgiving, but we'll just go for 100 down for the New Year. Should be do-able. Anyway, all I want for Christmas are clothes. Nothing fits, everything is falling off, etc... What a problem to have, eh? Well, that's about it for me for now. Take care everyone and I'll type at ya later...

Not much new, just busy.

Let's see, coming up on 6 months. I'm down 82. Losing slower than expected, but it's also good because the skin seems to be tightening in the right places. Still will have some excess though. I'm targeting 100 down by Thanksgiving, so that 's about 2 months and 18 lbs. I'm becoming a crock pot junky with roasts and soups. Feeling really good. Take care all..

1 week before surgery.

3 1/2 months out, 7/21/07. Down 67 lbs. Things going great.

Where has the time gone?

Jun 21, 2007

11 weeks out today. Wow, where did all that time go? Let's see, when we last left our hero...   My recovery was uneventful. No setbacks or issues, everything was textbook. Incision healed nicely, am now back to my old self and feel great. I'm down 56 pounds and the energy boost is unreal, but awesome. I used to be tired all the time, now it is just invigorating living every day. I chase the boys around the park and have them chase me. I used to sit on the bench not being able to run around with them, now I'm like a kid again. Clothes don't fit. The eating is about a 3 out of a scale of 5. I don't seem to have many issues with anything, and I need to work more on the protein selections and cut more carbs. Hardest thing is with the 2 boys, they aren't into experimenting with Daddy on meals. Working on that though. While I haven't really set a specific goal per se, I would love to see that scale go below 200. Last time was when I was a sophomore in high school while under direction of a sadistic wrestling coach who loved to destroy us in practice. I went from 210 to 186 that season. I actually miss him. Was nice having someone push me more. I think I do better in the teammate, joint ordeal than doing things on my own.... Anyway, Sara is happy with the results so far and things are going well. Will check in again after my next appointment in July with my lab results.

Tick Tock...

Mar 30, 2007

I'm about 6 days out and starting to get a bit freaked, but am excited as well. 9 weeks ago the day couldn't get here fast enough, now it seems like there is so much to do. Sara has grad school this weekend and is doing her big presentation for her masters. I'm so proud of her. She's worked so hard for this and she'll graduate in May.
I've noticed that our oldest is starting to have some concerns over my surgery. He's still very young, but is asking some deep questions. I'm ready for anything that comes and quite honestly just want this over. Next up is to clean the house best I can, then clean again to try to disinfect anything and everything. Hard to do with 2 active boys in the springtime with worms, dirty hands and whatnot. Then it's on to bowel prep next week which we just won't go there. Then it's surgery. Let's get 'er done.....

So what's new?

Feb 16, 2007

So what is new? Guess the waiting is the worst part so far. Once I heard my good news from insurance, I called my dad. He was so happy and supportive. That sure helped getting that reassurance from him. He knows how much I've tried and how hard. He was the one who took the profile picture which is of me finishing my first triathlon in 05. Anyway, the rest of the family is supportive and just looking for ways to help out with the kids and such. The offers are there and will probably take them up on a few. I've probably gained a few pounds since the sump pump failure. The new carpet is in and I'm probably going thru a bit of a 'last supper' phase. It ends this weekend though. Monday starts the hard cardio during lunch and maybe a few runs between jobs. Anyway, about 7 weeks or so. And that groundhog doesn't know his shadow from dirt. -15 this past week.  Jim

Approved. Thank God....

Got the email on 1/23 that my appeal was reversed and I have been approved. Scheduled for April 5th. Here we go........ Wheeeeee!!!!

First request denied, first appeal submitted and pending...

Well, not much to report. Survived the holidays by losing 5 lbs. Down to 320. Failed sump pump flooded basement on New Years Eve making the start of '07 a total kick in the ass. Winter has really set in here in MN, but I figure that things can only improve for '07. Taking everything in stride and just getting to the next day. Hoping insurance will see the light and maybe get a call this week with some good news. They were asking for a medical necessity for the DS. How morbide does one need to be? I know they're just looking at the bottom line, but c'mon.... Anyway, still in a hold pattern... Jim

Almost there, insurance, don't fail me now...

Nov 30, 2006

I've been contacted by Dr. Buchwald and have been invited in for a consult. He believes that I won't need to do the seminar, and he's already submitted all my information for prior approval. I meet with him on 12/13 and I'm hoping to come away with a surgery date that day. I'm guessing it will be a March/April date, but it looks like things are going fairly well. Goal is to try to keep losing some weight, ramp up the cardio to help me during and post-op, and keep praying. Oh, and I'm thinking of starting a home business part time. Thanks everyone and hope to be posting next with insurance approval or appeal process. Jim
