I'm a 61 year old happily married woman. I have two sons aged 40 and 24. I'm a lifetime yoyo dieter. My problem was never losing the weight, it was keeping it off. I tried everything from Weight Watchers to South Beach Diet to the military diet to the Dukan Diet. Any diet will work if you work it but the real challenge is keeping the weight off.

After about 5 times of losing a good amount of weight over a period of 4 decades I noticed that everytime I attempted to lose the weight gained it got more difficult and it also started taking a toll on my overall health. My last checkup in June of this year threw into sharp relief that if I didn't do something quick, I was going to end up a diabetic like my mother and also I was shortening my life because of the extra 60 pounds I was carrying. Needless to say I also was feeling pretty lousy both physically and emotionally.

My nurse practioner had had gastric sleeve performed by Dr. Roger Wilhelmy of Mexicali Bariactric Center and recommended him highly. I took the plunge and decided to invest in my health and my future. It's been 4 months since my surgery and I've lost 53 pounds and counting. Most importantly, I know that now the weight will stay off since I've taken measures to ensure that this surgery was an invaluable tool for changing my lifestyle and eating healthy. I realize now that diets are a quick fix it and will not work. Like Weight Watcher's taught me, it's not a "diet" it's a "live it". If you are going to lose weight and keep it off, you must change your lifestyle to one you can live with.
