I called the surgeons office today. She is sending off for approval with my insurance today...Won't be long now. Once we get approval (fingers crossed) we set the date....

I got my clearance from the pulmo doc today! 
nerves are kicking in now....my life is about to change forever! But I can do this....I need to do this for my health. Tomorrow I will call the surgeons office and make sure they got the fax and have them get it all together to send to Tricare for my approval process to get going......let's do this man!

I saw the Vascular Surgeon last week to get my clearance from him. Turns out I have venous insufficiency in both my legs and will need a vena cava filter. Having venous insufficiency means the blood back flows into my legs and doesn't flow like it should. Puts me at a high risk for blood clots. Blood clots here travel to the lungs. A vena cava filter will prevent them from getting all the way there.

Well, so far I've been cleared by everyone and everything. Just waiting on my pulmo doc to clear me with my sleep apnea. At my other sleep study we did he found I had sleep apnea.....like I really needed that added to the fire....Anyway..I have to do another sleep study tonight with a CPAP machine to see if it helps and I think I will have to use it for 4 weeks then he will clear me. But that's all I am waiting on right now.

I've gotten cleared by the Cardio doc and in the process with the pulmo doc. I did my sleep study 
last night. I feel like I didn't sleep a wink. It was ice cold in there plus there was bad weather. Hopefully they can get something from my naps I took...
I have my dietary and psych eval next week. I am getting there slowly but surely.

I went yesterday to my first appt with Dr. Shina. He is very straight forward and knows what needs to be done. I love this type of attitude. He told me that I must first get the approval from my Neurosurgeon because of my ventriculoperitoneal shunt before he will do it. But that won't be a problem at all my neurosurgeon bugs me every time I go in there about losing weight/bariatric surgery. Out of the 2000+ GB he has done he has done 3 with VP shunt in place. I know those odds aren't too good, but this settles with me just fine. They are rare to begin with and if he has any sort of experience with them, that's great! I am terribly nervous about the procedure, but I know I need this to get my life back from doctors after doctors.....Let's do this! Just have to see the cardiologist and pulmunologist to get my packet sent to my insurance. Oh, and some bloodwork....

On Friday...I called and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Shina the Surgeon. This morning (tuesday) someone from the office (rude) calls and says that someone named Mark faxed something to the office saying I wanted to consult with them. I told her I already had an appt. she told me that I wasn't going to have any appt unless I talk with her. I was never at any point rude to her in any way...... WELL!?!?!? Excuse the bleep outta me......But I'm just trying to figure out what the hell is going on with my own damn appt here.

Well, I talked with my PCM this morning and she put in a referral to a surgeon for me. I honestly would be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. But I know this is something I can and will do to get my life back. I am so tired of going to doctors after doctors offices. This will be a new beginning for me. I deserve this and so does my family...My kids need me....a healthier me.
