I was comfortable with my weight until I reached 40. I stayed around 170, I'd gain a few and could go on a diet and loose it.  Then things started going out of control and I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at 42. My thyroid was removed and I'm proud to say I'm a 12 year cancer survivor.

The down side is my weight has been skyrocketing ever since the surgery.  Of course the doctor's response is that the tests say my meds are correct and I just need to go on a diet.  Like I haven't spent the last 12 yrs on and off every diet know to man!  And nothing works.  For the last year I've pretty much given up on dieting.  I am now 100 pounds heavier than I was.

I've been considering WLS for a couple of years but thought I couldn't afford it.  My insurance specifically excludes it.  To my relief I see that there are lots of people here self paying and that the price looks do-able for me.  I'm so excited to think that this may be in my reach. I'm ready to feel good again!
