I dont think I have been this happy since pizzones! (kidding)

Ok quick update, I am 7 days post op, and I am doing pretty good.  I am offically 299.8 lbs , and I have never been so excited in all my life!  I am sure the weight will keep dropping off, I hope anyway!!  Sorry this one is so short, about to go shopping gonna get a new vacuum!

Well I met with Dr Facundus yesterday.  I got weighed. They gave me my after surgery perscriptions, aftercare instructions, packing list....etc.  I think I pretty much have everything down.  I have gotten everything I need to eat after surgery except popcycles.  I wanted to make a list of my measurements so that I can compare them to this time next year and see my progress.  Here are the stats:

K, so....I have a date....Febuary 2nd!  I am so excited and scared all at the same time.  I am excited b/c I know I can do this, I have waited a long time to achieve this goal, and I cant wait for my life to change, eventually, having my babies I have dreamed about.

This surgery, is not only my insurance for a longer life but because of my weight, I cannot have children until I drop at least 100lbs.  (maybe more)  I know I cant start planning my family yet...obviously, but this is the first step!  Who knows, 18-24 months from now, I may be posting that Im pregnant!

I woke up this morning after having had the worst night sleep ( i slept wrong and now my neck is sore)...I have been approved for surgery!  I am so excited, I feel like today ranks up there in the "happiest days of my life" catagory!  

I am supposed to call my surgen's office today and schedule a time to get my labs done, and also need to make appointments with my HR person at work to file my FMLA paperwork, and short term disability paperwork.  I need to get on the horn with H & R Block and see what they need to do my taxes with my last paystub, cause the sooner I have the money the sooner this can all be a memory!

I am so excited.  I dont know how Chad is going to handle this now that its upon us.  I am happy, I hope he is happy I am happy.  I really hope nothing changes with us.

Well ladies and gentlemen, I am offically another step closer to my dream!  I met with Dr. Facundus today and I must say....he does seem a little out going....I like that!  Well after I took my breath test he came in and talked to me about everything I got to ask him questions, etc.  I think it went well.

Bad news....I have, well I dont have too, but I need to go on a two week liquid diet to help with reducing my weight before surgery.  I would like everything to go well afterwards, so I feel I should jump start the process. 

I finally got to talk to the insurance people, which reduced a lot of questions as well.  I have to show 6 months of supervised diets in the last 2 years....check.  I have to have 5 years of recorded weight.  (still working on that, calling every hospital and dr as far back as I can remember)  I must be at 40% BMI...check (ugh.) I must pay 20%...(eek) check. 

I must say, the liquid for the H. Pylori test....was horrible!!  I dont ever want to do that again!  (i hope i dont have that, so i can move on with this process.)

Anyway, Im going to take an occurance at work tomorrow and take care of all this jazz.  I have to go to the hospital (huntsville) and get medical records, then I have to go to the drs office and have them fax all that info to the insurance company.  I will then give them a total of 5 days at Aetna, if I dont have someone calling me by business day 6....its on!  I will continue to call every day until someone says...."Marla, YOU ARE APPROVED!!!"

Goals....I have them!  lol.

Just to add another note, I gained weight since my initial visit...HOW IS THIS HAPPENING??  current weight....318.7

well i went for my appointment today, i paid $150 for a really nice lady to schedule some appointments.  wow.  thats all she did really...i have another appointment with the nutritionist in three weeks and the surgen in 4 weeks.  only cause i cant afford to meet them any time sooner.  its gonna cost $175 and then $225 for the surgen....JESUS!  this isnt cheap!  damn.

anyway, things are alright, i had questions answered...so i guess im good to go for now!

Ok for the record as most of you know....DIETS SUCK!! I decided to start a food journal and a low carb diet....if i eat another salad...omg!  I also had another appointment with the gym, thats going well.  I really wish all the stress from school and work would die down a little bit!!

I have my apt with dr facundus on thursday at 8am!  i have all of my paperwork to give to him and i think im ready for all this!!  im excited to go and see what the next step is.  wish me luck!!

ok so, i go to the gym today for my "key" apt.  which is where they show you how to use the machines etc....they put me on a treadmill at 3.7 mph and at a 7% incline....NOT HAPPENING!

i politely explained to the girl that i am a 300lb woman, and that is not possible right now, as much as i would love to be able to do that....my legs will not allow it.  so they are reworking my entire program.  they just did my program based off my age.. (26) that annoys me so much...i mean i did this health assesment and the guy who was conducting it asked my goals, what was going on in my life how i eat...etc....you think when he looked at the peice of paper he would remember who i was and what he saw me capable of doing.  not something someone half my size has a hard time with!!

Im annoyed!  im gonna study!

 

 

Well today marks the offical day of my journey.  I have already done the 6+ months of supervised diet, blah blah blah...and I am now onto the next step, scheduling drs appointments, meeting with dietitions, etc.  My family is totally against me having this surgery and they believe I should try other methods of weight loss before i do something as drastic as a surgery.  Because I am in a relationship with a wonderful man I decided to join a gym and we would work out together. 

Today was my first day offically at the gym, I had my health assesment, and they measured my chubby-ness it all its glory!  I have a 45% bmi, I am 300 lbs even (my scale in my bathroom is wrong, THANK GOD!)  And here are the rest of my specs....

circumferences in inches     forearms 11 & 11.5    upper arm 15 &19     thighs 29     calf 19       chest 49      waist 51       abdomen 53      hips 58

Hopefully in the near future these numbers will be half that size...that would be great!
