New Post Been awhile

Feb 11, 2013

Hi everybody,

I seem to apologize everytime I attempt to get the group active again.  I have posted this before but I see some new members who must really think me awful.  If ya'll are still with me, I will try to explain.

Some of you know me outside of OH so you know the story but for those that joined in faith and are left in the dark will try to explain.

Many of you may know that my Tony was sick and on dialysis.  For 4 years, just a year after my RNY surgery, Tony's stage4 Kidney Disease progressed to the point that he was on dialysis 3x a week.  Coupled with the kidney and diabetes, Tony developed other issues that soon became life threatening.  10 months after my surgery, Tony became very ill and could not longer work.  And for the next 4 years I was on the road to first one Doctor then another to a hospital to a clinic 5 days a week.  That is not including the many many 911 ambulance calls and transports and half the nights spent in ER or on the road to Nashville for Centennial hospital stay or Tullahoma hospital stay.

January 2011 Tony lost his mother and sister within two weeks of each other.  I was the executor of the estate so we had to go to Nevada to take care of the business.  Then in 9 months, October 11 th  I lost my Tony.

I drove him to California for spreading os his ashes.  then in July, just 8 months later I lost my mom.  Again I had to go out west and take care of her memorial then drive her to Hutchinson, Kansas for burial of her ashes.

My Journey has basically been full of fast food, no food, no rest and nothing but stress.  My anniversary is 12-03-2007 so as you can see I just passed my 5 year mark.

It seems that my reason for living is sort of gone, and I am not so sure where to start.  When I received the letter about the survey to keep my OHL status I wondered if I had anything to offer as a leader anymore.  But I took the survey and said I wanted to remain a leader.

I hope that I can figure out a way to get these messages to you in your email boxes.  For some reason  I haven't figured out how to get the messages to you guys and if you don't check here, you don't see them.

I will check on that.

Til then, if any of you receive this could you let me know at my email

Been along time

Mar 16, 2011

Hi all,

Welcome to the 3 new members.  I must apologize to each and every one of you.  I know it has been forever since I posted to you guys.

The leader of the M'boro group had to leave and I started the group back up at another location.  I was running that group until last August 2010  when my brother was diagnosed with Cancer.

In the interum my hubby has become very ill.  From working one day to dialysis 3x a week and never to work again to amputation of four toes two weeks ago.

As you guys can imagine, there hasn't been any time for "tannis".  I have gained back 35 pounds and I haven't had my blood work done in over 18 months.  BUT I do have an appt. scheduled for tomorrow the 17th.  With having had RNY the mal absorption is scary and I need to make sure my vitamin regimen is adequate.

You know when you get 3 years plus out, it seems like we let "life" take back over and we forget about ourselves.  I finally reailized when I got a notice from Cathy and Debbie about some upcoming events that I "NEED" to get back with the program.  And what a better place to start then with my support group buddies.

The only positive thing is I STILL am a support group junky and attend 2 meetings a month in Shelbyville.

So guys, we are here if you need to Chat or BLOG or ???

take care and GOD BLESS

Did ya miss me??

May 01, 2009

Hi all,

First off I need to apologize for not posting all these months.  It has been a very difficult 5 months.
My hubby, my Tony, went into the hospital on Christmas Day with congestive heart failure.  On January 5th he was put back in with same condition only with the added problem that his kidney's had shut down.  Dialysis time had come.

Since January, he has been in and out of the hospital 5 times.  He is diagnosed with stage 5 renal failure.  He is on dialysis 3x a week plus going to Drs. most weeks.  So every day except on weekends we are on the road to some Drs. office or hosptial or clinic.  He is stable now and has had all of the tests for placement on a Kidney transplant.  However when testing they found a heart blockage and he had to have a stint.  He cannot be on the active list until May 17th.

Needless to say, Tony is my life.  And so I just kinda put my life on the back burner.  I have not been to Dr. H or had labs since December 12th.  I am maintaning weight between 295 and 307.  Just cannot seem to lose anymore.  So I will not reach my goal of losing 25 #s by my birthday.

At this point, I don't know what to do.  I am so worried about Tony that nothing else seems to be important.

On a lighter note, pardon the pun, my little sister had her RNY on October 9th and she is LITTLE now.  135 pounds.  Down from 218.  She has not been that size since we were teenagers. Well I was a teen, she was like 12??  LOL Anyway, I am so proud of her.  Terrie, I love you.

On another even better note, Terrie's son in law, Jimmie had RNY just a few weeks ago and he is doing GREAT.  This surgery has saved 2 members of my famiy's lives plus mine.

I hope all is well with all of you guys.  If you get a moment, keep my Tony in your prayers would you?

WOO HOO it's February........

Feb 09, 2009

The Bud Shootout was Saturday night and well if you are part of THIS GROUP you KNOW that MY driver WON the SHOOTOUT.

LoL, okay got that out of the way.  Welcome everybody.  I see we had two new members join last month.  It is great to have you here.  Please pass the word.  I would LOVE to get at least ONE new member a month.  Remember that the BLOG, DISCUSSION and PHOTOS are YOUR places to post and use for the GROUP.

I would like to keep in touch with each of you at least once a week if possible.  I know that we all have busy lives but it has been my experience that a SUPPORT Group is absolutely vital to my well being and the success of my weight loss journey.  We will have a once a month CHAT.

Our WL jouney isn't the only topic now, remember this is a RACING group.  And our SEASON is upon us with a bang!!

Come and start a discussion about racing, your favorite driver, your favorite track and try to bring your weight loss journey experiences into that arena.

For me, the challenge of my weight PREVENTED me from going to a race.  I couldn't walk the distance to the grandstands from the parking area.  Even with a handicap tag, it was still too far.  And then to CLIMB up those rows to my seat.  Forget it.

Not to mention the waiting in line to buy a souvenir, go potty or get something to drink.  But boy howdy let me tell you, this year at Martinsville, honey I WALKED them thar hills and never huffed and puffed ONE TIME.  And for those of you who haven't been to Martinsville, it is ALL San Francisco type hills.  Not a flat spot ANYWHERE.

Okay, that's my beginning discussion.  Come on and let me hear from yas.

Hi everybody

Jan 07, 2009

WOW our membership has grown to 7.  Ya'll are looking so GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

I am sorry I have been sort of MIA.  My hubby is in the hospital.  He is diabetic and has been slowly experiencing Renal failure.  He is now stage 5 end stage and his body was so backed up with toxins that he had congestive heart failure.

Almost 2 mos ago a fistula was done for the dialysis needles and now Tony will be on dialysis 3 times a week.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello everyone.  Our regular monthly meetings will be the first Monday of the month.  This will start in February instead of  an official January  meeting because of my hubby.  I have been in touch with Cathy and Debbie and will be getting a form that must be used to document our meetings.  Also, they will help me get the ONLINE meeting set up.  For now I am using this blog to communicate with ya'll.  This is sort of the UNofficial January meeting if you guys don't mind.

To start off with, if you guys feel comfortable, please write a short blog on the following.
REMEMBER, you do not need to have HAD SURGERY or even WANT surgery.  Just being interested in getting control of a weight issue and coming to be with us for SUPPORT is all that we are interested in.

Surgery date
RNY, Lap or Sleeve or ???
A little about yourself logistics, where live etc.  (being an online support group, I expect us to have lots of stories LOL)

Questions you may have.  Food menu issues ( I refuse to say the word DIET, ugh.  This is NOT going to be a journey of dieting.  This is a NEW beginning with a food plan that will sustain us for the rest of our lives).

And last but NOT LEAST, your favorite NASCAR Driver!!!  We WILL talk a little about our favorite subject guys I promise.

And having said that, just some general guidelines to follow please.  NO BASHING or Disrespect to others.  Everything we talk about in our group is to STAY in our group.  PLEASE respect the confidentiality of each other's business.  Every single person here is VALUABLE and we ALL have faced many of the same prejudice, harassment, embaressment over weight issues.  Let this be a safe place to come and have good fellowship.

IF at ANY TIME someone needs one on one, just let me know.

God Bless you guys, oh and GO 29.

A Big Welcome to Losers NASCAR 29

Nov 11, 2008

Hi there,

I am a HUGE NASCAR fan.  Been a fan since about 1968 and have followed the sport off and on for 40 years.

I went to a Grand National race in Montgomery Alabama. in 1968.  My son was almost 2 years old and I was pg with my daughter.

During the break between heats, all of the drivers came up into the stands with their helmets, coffee cans etc to collect money to help out a fellow driver who had been burned in an accident at the Rock.

Bobby Allison was one of those drivers.  When he approached us, my son, Jeffrey Todd, raised his arms for Bobby to pick him up.  Bobby did.  He carried Jeffrey Todd around the grandstands and I was hooked.  To this day I dearly love Bobby Allison.  He is MY HERO.

Anyway, this group's name is NASCAR_29.  And if you are a  NASCAR fan then you will feel right at home.  If you are a KEVIN HARVICK fan you will REALLY feel at home.  BUT, no matter which driver you follow, NASCAR ROCKS and the theme of our group is another common interest.

Our weight loss journey begins when we have the desire to lose weight.  My philosophy doesn't center around Weight Loss Surgery.  It centers around feeling better about yourself, your health and your body image.  If that means losing weight the traditional way, ie diets, or if it means surgery or any point in between, I would like my group to fill those needs.

Please feel free to open discussion on anything you wish to talk about.  Let's get to know one another.  If there are any issues, or information that any of you are curious about, let me know.  This is a secure area, we can talk about anything.  NUMBER ONE RULE is WHAT HAPPENS HERE STAYS HERE.  You may NOT talk about any of our discussions outside of here unless you get PERMISSION.  Since we are an online OBESITY HELP group, Hopefully the open safe arena will be comfortable for you.

MY BAD MY BAD

Nov 11, 2008

Hi guys,

I am SO SORRY that I have neglected you guys.  It has been quite a journey since I became an Obesity Help leader.  RESEARCH and research and MORE research.

It is a big responsiblity being a leader and it is hard to get a group organized.  But I am trying.  I just want to have the best information available to be able to help when an issue comes up.

If anyone is interested in joining my OH group, you can join us at

http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/Nascar_29/

I am still in the process of setting it up and it would be great to have you in on the ground floor.

Now to my journey happenings.  Did you notice on the side what my WEIGHT IS.  DRUM ROLL PLEASE

I am now at 307 POUNDS.  Just 107 FROM MY GOAL.

But the bestest news is my BMI  Gosh I cannot believe it you guys.  My BMI started at
73.1

It is NOW

                          48.1

That is a whole 25 point drop.  WOO HOO.

But the best part is how I feel.  Oh my you guys just cannot believe how much better I feel.

LOL I even got brave and let a fellow weight loss buddy put color on my hair.  LOL it is TOO DARK but for a rinse and a first timer I can live with it.

Anyway, my life is so much better.  I feel so blessed and I pray that all of you who have even a small doubt about what this TOOL can do, I hope you will read my story and be inspired.

Til next time,

(((HUGS)))

It is OFFICIAL

Sep 25, 2008

I passed my Obesity Help Leader Training

A while back, some very dear WL buddies told me about becoming an OH leader.  Since we live in such a rural area it is hard to find a support group close.  I spend alot of time reading OH and my goodness, the theme runs rampant.  People living in areas with NO SUPPORT GROUPS at all.

So I have this bright idea of forming an OH Support Group here on Obesity Help for people who do not have a group in their area.  When people sign up, we will then have a meeting and decide what online private Arena we can use to have our group meetings.  There are several options open to us.

Anyway, here is the url to my Obesity Help Support Group.  Newly forming as I type.

Oh, by the way, if you are a NASCAR fan, all the better.  That is one of my passions.

Take care

Blood Work

Sep 25, 2008

Hi all,

I just received my blood work results.  I am NORMAL

All of my tests were within range.  Dr. H said he would like the Vitamin D to be >60 and mine keeps hovering around 34.  So I will just keep taking the Vitamin D.  No biggy, I have it on hand and I don't want to worry about getting low.

Feeling good.  I now can wear ZIP UP JEANS.  Feels so good.

Hope all is well with you guys.

Oh Oh forgot to say, CONGRATULATIONS to my sister.  She got a DATE.  October 9th.  She is beyond EXCITED.   You all, join the chant, NO MORE DIABETES FOR TERRIE.  LOL

See ya next month
