Weight Watchers

Aug 14, 2007

Well seeing as I cannot get my surgery ANY time soon, I have decided to do Weight Watchers. I am doing it with my Mom, and so far I am pretty happy with it. Since I have been doing it (4 weeks now) the least I have lost is .8 in 1 week, last week I lost 2 pounds!! I am not going to set unreal expectations for myself like some people do, because that just is going to discourage you, and make you want to quit. So I am just taking it 1 week at a time. I have only been out to eat 5 times since I have started it. and twice was for my birthday, so I am doing pretty good. It is so easy to just fly through the drive threw, or stop and get something on the way home, but it just isnt worth it. Even thought weight watchers put points out for food for pretty much every restaurant, you still have no control over how they cook the food, so its not very acurate. I am cooking so much now! and I am being very creative!! I know I am doing it the right way, and I am happy with myself. There are a lot of people who say "I drink all of my water.. I never eat out... I pass on all the bad stuff" but they arent, and they are only hurting themselves. I am not going to be like that, "A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips" it is so true.

So I will just keep trucking along, and I know the weight wont come off as fast as with WLS, but Ill take anything I can get at this point!!

Just got off the phone with St. Vincents

Nov 27, 2006

Well St. Vincents just called me and they checked with my insurance and it will be covered! I have not been approved yet, as they have not sent the letter of medical necessity, but as soon as they do, I will be covered! they told me to schedule my Phyc eval. and get a physical from my PCP. I have my Consultation with the Surgeon on December 22nd at 1:30pm. I am sooooo excited, and scared, and everything else. They set my goal BMI at 25 and my goal weight at 150. Me? 150 pounds? that is like my left leg! LOL j/k. I am going to try to schedule the surgery for spring break so I do not have to take any time off of school, and I will have my vacation time from work at that time. So I can't wait! Wow.. this is all becoming so real for me!

Just got back from the info seminar

Nov 18, 2006

Wow.. so much information in 2 hours! I ended up going by myself because my Mom ended up working. But thats OK. I only wish she was there to get all of the information with me. I defintly want a Lap RNY. I met some really great people, and know this is the hospital for me. I went to another hospitals info seminar, and this one just feels right for me. I can't wait to start my new life!

I talked with an insurance lady afterwards, and told her that I have been harassing my Insurance company (I have called them about 5 times to make sure that what they tell me is consistant) All 5 times they have told me that I do not need the 6 months supervised eight loss. It sounded too good to be true! WELL IT IS TRUE! I talked with the lady, and she deals with UHC daily, and says that yes, it is true, they do not require it. I am sooo excited! She said as long as I am 100 pounds overweight, and go through all of the pre screening, I will be able to have the surgery! I am sooooo excited! She is calling them this week to verify, and she will call me back!

On other news, Life has been getting much better for me now that I am only working 1 job. working 3 was wearing me out! I was crabby all of the time, never eating because it got in the way of sleep. I got sick, felt like I was going to die. So, now just working 40-48 hours a week is sooo much better! I worked 72 hours 1 week! I dont even know how I did it!

Well off to sleep I go... I can't wait to get the ball rolling on my WLS!!

my insurance does pay!

Oct 25, 2006

Well I called my insurance company to make sure that it will pay for WLS. And it does, with no exclusions. I have to meet the following criteria.

200% or 100 pounds overweight (check!)

BMI of atleast 40 (check!)

and a doctor that says it would benifit me. (I am still working on that one)

My insurance will pay no more than $100,000.00 for anything that has to do with the WLS. Including all of the after care and such. I think that is sufficient, but I really do not know.

I was so excted to learn about this, and really hope I will be able to get everything together to get it.

Waiting to go to the information session

Oct 23, 2006

Well I took the first step. I signed up for an information session about WLS. I will be going November 18th. I am really excited, and at the same time nervous that I will find out that I am not eligable. I have United Healthcare, and I know that they pay for it. but I do not know if I meet all of the critera. I have a BMI of 41.6, and I am over 100 pound over weight. I have a history of Heart Disease on both sides of my family, and my father, grandmother, and 3 aunts are type 2 diabetics. I have tried Weight Watchers 3 times, as well as many other deits, and while I would lost around 30 pounds, I would always gain it back.

So I am just doing my research now, I am so happy I found this site, it has been so informative! Everyone is so nice. And reading profiles, and looking at before and after pictures are so inspiring!

Thats it for now!
