I am 37 years old, married, and stepmother to a 7-year-old special needs boy. I had been overweight since the age of 20. I've tried many diets and weight loss gimmicks, but was unable to lose weight with anything except Phentermine. Always, the weight came back; that is, if it even went down to begin with!
I started looking at weight loss surgery in January of 2006. At that time I was interested and felt it was for me, but my husband and I were thinking we were going to try for another child. Knowing that you are not supposed to get pregnant for about 2 years after the surgery (and I'm a stickler for rules!) we decided that it was not the right time.
One year later I'd decided that I'd rather not have more children, so scheduled a consultation at Barix in Ypsilanti. I loved the whole program, and Dr. Kam was so wonderful that I knew now was the right time and Barix/Dr. Kam was the right place.
