I HAVE A SURGERY DATE!!!! March 20, 2018

Jan 12, 2018

If you  knew me, you would know that I have struggled with my weight my entire life. The past few years it has been worse than ever before. My weight has really affected my health in so many ways, some reversible some not. Over the past 20 years I have become convinced that Bariatric Surgery was the answer.  After many hours of prayer, I found a local physician who will do the procedure.

I have worked so hard towards this already and I hate to let anything else stand in my way. Obesity played a major part in the deaths of my Mother (64 yr.) my baby Sister (43 yr.) and my Dad at age 72. I have relatives who have lived into their 90’s but they weren’t fat!  I want to LIVE to see 100!  I want to be able to walk without a cane and being in pain and I want to travel again!

In the past,  I have come very close to surgery & family obligations prevented me from doing it. My Mom died from a heart attack in 1992, My dad had 3 strokes and I moved back home to care for him. He passed on in 2002 from liver & colon cancer.  3 years later, i was again preparing for surgery, and my baby sister, 41 yrs old, was diagnosed with cervical cancer and also suffered a stroke. Over the next two years, she became bedridden and we took care of each other. I lost her July 20, 2009.  So now it's just me. I was lost and wandering, consumed by my greif, and didn't care what became of me. My weight ballooned out of control.  But slowly, the fog cleared.  I started volunteering in the community, at church, and at the museum. Now, 8 years later, I am again living in the world and not around the fringes. I am ready to get healthy. Ready to fit in an airline seat, ready to travel and walk, see all the great wonders this world has to offer.

Since I met Dr. McDermott and his staff, I have lost 68 pounds and have stopped using a cane to walk.  But I'm not through, the best is yet to come.
