I met with Deirdre, my Nutritionist for the last time before my surgery.  She went over my post op diet again and wanted to know if I had any questions for her.  She took a before picture of me...but I didn't want to see it...maybe I will look at it after I start losing weight.  I didnt' want to be too depressed.  She reminded me that if during my hospital stay they bring me something on the tray that I know I shouldn't have...DON"T EAT IT!!!!!  She said it happens sometimes ....and some folks go right ahead and eat whatever they are given.  I will remember that.  Well...now it's just a matter of waiting for Monday.  I will post afterwards okay.  Pray for me.

Well today I went for Pre-op.  They did an EKG...took more blood and I met with the Anesthesiologist.  They gave me my papers as to where to report on Monday and also told me to take one pepcid the night before surgery and the morning of surgery.  I can't believe that it is almost here!!!!!  I have waited so long for this to happen.  I know God will be with me on that day and also will guide the surgeons hands so that my surgery is successfull and uneventfull.

I DID IT!!!!!!  I lost 4.5 pounds....and the Doctor said that he can give me a date!!!! APRIL 30th, 2007 will be my new birthday!!!!!!  He went over the procedure again with me and even had me take a test...I got 100%.  I can't believe this is finally going to happen.  Suzie said she will call me to tell me when I have to go for my pre-op testing. Dr. Claros is a very nice man!!! I would recommend him highly to anyone who is thinking about having this surgery done.  I will keep you posted after I have my pre op done.

I finally met with Dr. Claros.  He is a very nice man...and a gentleman!!!!  Unfortunately I have gained 9 pounds since I started this journey.  Although Dr Claros explained to me that it's not because I'm very heavy..but he needs people to lose some weight to shrink their liver for surgery.  During surgery, the Surgeon has to lift up the liver away from the stomach and wants to reduce it's load of fat as much as possible.  So......he had me sign a contract to get down to at least 190...give or take before he can give me a surgery date.....WOW.....how am I going to do this??????  I will have to find a way.  Please wish me luck!!!!!

I met with the ear nose Doctor.....he checked me out and said all looks okay...except that I have a deviated septum which should be a problem for surgery.  He stuck this long tube down my nose!!!!! OUCH........I saw stars!!!  he said he will send a report to Marta giving her clearance.  I 'm back on track again!!!!

Oh....Gosh......I met with Marta today...and was hoping she would give me an appointment to meet with the Surgeon...but now she wants me to see a ear nose specialist because of my snorning from the sleep study......There is nothing wrong with me...but I guess I have no choice but to comply with her request....I'll let you know what happens.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I called the WLS center today to see if I was approved for surgery.  Suzie is off this week...she is getting married. So the lady took down my information and looked it up in her computer.  She said she didn't see anything yet...but took my name down and said she will check to see if it's still in the mail box.  Well....5 minutes later...I get a call and it's someone else that says...Marie?  I said Yes?  She said I'm calling from St. Elizabeth's weight loss clinic and wanted to let you know that you have been APPROVED for surgery.  I have been longing to hear those sweet words forever!!!!!!  I AM JUST SOOOOOOOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW.  She said she will have someone call me tomorrow because there are some things that I need to do first before surgery.  I will keep you posted!!!!!!  Thank you everyone for all of your support....This site is the BEST!!!!!!!!!

 

This afternoon I went to the second support group at St. E's.  After we spoke with the Psych lady...she is so nice!!!!!!!  We went downstairs and had a meeting with Doctor Claros and some post op patients.  There were a lot of questions answered.  I left there feeling so confident about what I am doing.  Dr. Claros said that he does lap Rny/lap lapband because it is less invasive and a quicker recovery period.  They also gave us all a gastric bypass binder with lot's of information post op and pre op.  That's all for now folks!

I called Suzie...just like I thought...she already knows about it.  She said she has been working very hard all week sending out letters to Tufts.  She said she will send my letter out next week because she goes on vacation the week after.  She will call me and let me know.  Could it be?????  Could I actually know by next week if I am approved????  I 'll keep you posted!!!!!!!  I am just sailing along this process!!!!
