Ok Let's see how this goes

Mar 29, 2009

So I went to the doctor last Monday and I had previously emailed her about my frustrations.  When I got to her office she told me to start doing light weights and more walking/jogging in order to boost up my metabolism.  I also sat with the nutritionist who gave me a new 14 day diet.  The diet looks good to me.  I started today and so far I'm extremely full from breakfast (half an english muffin [light multigrain] with scrambled eggs [1 whole, 1 white], and 1 slice of melted low fat cheese].  Breakfast is hard for me though. I have to wait like 2 hours after I wake up and am moving around.  Anyway, I went shopping yesterday and bought some new veggies and lots of whole grains, greek yogurt, lean meats.  Funny how eating healthy can be a lot more expensive.  However, I know it'll be worth it.  The diet consists of 3 meals totaling anywhere from 700 to 900 calories.  To me thats too little since I workout.  So I'm making it up with fruits in between and a light snack and some coffee made lite.  So I'll be consuming between 1200-1300 calories a day.  I went up to 209lb when I visited my doctor on Monday.  1 week later, today, I went back down to 205lbs.  So I'm hoping this new low glycemic, low calorie, low carb diet will put me where I know I should be.  I'll be in touch.

Kinda stuck here need some advice

Feb 22, 2009

So this last fill in January has really made some changes. I do feel restriction now but I'm having a problem going to the bathroom.  Sometimes it takes me 4 days to get anything out.  My scale is not moving and I know that has something to do with it.  I've taken fiber supplements, laxatives, tea (anis).  Nothing is working.  Two weeks ago it took me three days to go and I was working out everyday. The scale went up and I soon as I used the bathroom the next morning I had dropped three pounds.  Last week I couldn't work out since I was in Chicago.  I did do a lot of walking and playing with the kids.  I watched what I ate and managed to drop a few ounces.  When I got back my best friends father was dying and I started making rounds after work to get a collection going for her cuz her father did not have insurance and she's been out of work caring for him.  On Thursday he passed and I've been helping her ever since to make arrangements.  So this week was bad for me cuz I was not able to go to the gym.  Tomorrow its on!!! Maybe I'm just having a bad week but I need to kick it up cuz I want to be ready for my next vacation where I'll have to face wearing shorts.  I really want to be able to wear a real pair of shorts.  I'm starting boot camp next month 3 days a week and I'm going to try (if I'm not too sore) to go to the gym the other 2 days.  Other than that I can't say I'm not trying cuz I really am.  If anyone has any suggestions about the bathroom issue please hit me  up.  Thanks.

Oh Yea this fill is working

Jan 22, 2009

Yea so I might have reached my sweet spot.  Breakfast is gone.  I can't even eat scrambled eggs without it getting stuck.  I've thrown up a few times already.  I guess its all a part of the getting used to it.  I can eat crispy bacon thought.  Actually anything crunchy goes down well.  For breakfast I can have a medium coffee and water in between and the lasts me from 8am to 12pm.  For lunch I stick to smart ones or left over protein and veggie.  No more than 5-6 oz though.  Lunch usually lasts me from like 1230 to 7pm.  For dinner I eat just about 6-8 oz of protein/carb/veggie.  Even if it takes me a long time I try to finish as much as I can cuz I'm worried about nutrient deficiencies.  A lot of people with the band end up not eating much and only eat what they know goes down well.  How do you know if something agrees with you if you don't try?  Obviously things you know that are chewy don't try.  I stay away from bread, steak, goat, calamari, lobster... things like that that I know their texture will not agree with me.  But I'm not going to down a bag of doritos for lunch cuz I know it will go through.  I try new things and if it doesn't work I know not to try it again.  I do have to say I need to get back to boot camp.  When I was in the boot camp I lost 13lbs 4 weeks.  The gym does not give me the same intensity as the boot camp.  I'm going back in the spring cuz I can't wait to see what I'll look like this summer.  What I'm looking forward to is finally being able to wear shorts. Not booty shorts cuz I'm classy and booty shorts to me are skanky.  Just regular shorts above my knee.  I always wear capris cuz my thighs are so big.  They are getting smaller now and I just hope that this summer for the first time in my life I can wear some regular shorts.

Fill # I don't know

Jan 07, 2009

So I went to see Dr. Kurian today and got a fill I'm up to 8.0 cc's in a 10 cc band (not like I even understand how that works).  I hope this fill works better than the last one. I gained 1 lbs of which I'm actually happy about.  I enjoyed the holidays and ate without regard.  I didn't binge but my inner fat buddy was out there.  I still kept going to the gym because I knew that would at least balance out the weight.  But I'm happy that even with all the wonderful holiday food I ate I only gained 1 lb.  This time last year I had gained 12 lbs over the holidays alone.  Thats something to celebrate.  I'm ok with my progress so far and now I'm back to business.  I'm doing some traveling this year.  Next week I'll be going to the Poconos for 5 days to celebrate my 2 year wedding anniversary.  I'm looking forward to that because when I went last year I was 252 lbs, I was depressed, I couldn't do any of the snow activities and I didn't even have as much sex I should have.  This year, you best believe I'll be busting my ass lovely skiing, snowmobiling and fucking.   Next month I'll be in Chicago visiting my godson.  In July I'll be in Myrtle Beach, SC and in November I'll be on a 10 day vacation (3 days in Puerto Rico and 7 days on a 5 island carribean cruise) all paid for and booked.   I think this is what I like about the band, the fact that it has helped me gained the confidence to plan these things and actually look forward to them.   Anyway I'll be doing a couple of boot camps in the spring in the city.  If anyone is interested in the boot camps please email me through here or at [email protected]

Thanksgiving

Nov 24, 2008

So as we approach Thanksgiving, I want to give thanks to this site and the  wonderful people I have become friends with.  I've spoken to some really wonderful people (everyone on my friends list and most importantly Vonette and Doreen).  I've learned so much and I have never felt so accepted as I have felt being here even if its on the computer.  I'm thankful to have a network of people that I can completely relate to and that make me feel like I'm not alone.  So thank you all my friends at OBH and to the new friends I have to meet I hope I can continue to build wonderful relationships.  Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

I GUESS NO FILL AFTER ALL!

Nov 15, 2008

SO I GO TO THE SURGEON ON SATURDAY AND I'M THINKING SHE'S PROBABLY NOT GOING TO SEE MUCH CHANGE IN THE SCALE BECAUSE I'VE GAINED A LOT OF MUSCLE.  TO MY SURPRISE THE SCALE SAID 205.  I WAS SO EXCITED.  I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT.  SO I EXPLAINED TO HER WHAT I WAS DOING AND MY FOOD CHOICES AND SHE DECIDED NOT TO GIVE ME A FILL.  SO I ASKED HER ABOUT THE HOLIDAYS AND SHE SAID TO TRUST MYSELF.  SHE SAID IF I WANTED TO GO BACK FOR SECONDS GO BACK FOR TURKEY AND NOT ANYTHING ELSE.  SO I GUESS I JUST NEED TO STICK TO THE GAME PLAN.  I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M SO CLOSE TO ONEDERLAND.  HERE I COME....

Like I said Dropping the inches

Nov 12, 2008

So today was my four week completion of boot camp.  I was measured once again since the first day of boot camp.  In 4 weeks I've gained an inch on my arms (of which the trainer says its good because it means I've burn the fat under my arms and gained muscle).  I lost 2 inches on my belly, lost 1.5 inches on my hips and lost 1 inch on each thigh.   Now that is something to be proud of.  I can't wait to see my surgeon on Saturday and show her what I've done.

Dropping inches

Nov 09, 2008

Boot camp is sooooo worth it.  I'm definitely losing inches.  Friday is my last day of Boot Camp and I can honestly say that all the hard work paid off.  All my clothes are fitting extremely lose and I'm sure I am near onederland.  Saturday I see my surgeon so I hope to get a fill.  I would really like this fill since we are approaching the holidays and this is around the time that I really need restriction.  After boot camp I am going to continue to work out 5 days a week at the gym and maybe a salsa class on the weekend.  My camp trainer says to do 30-45 mins of cardio 5 days plus on three days weight train on two muscle groups at a time.  Thats exactly what I'm going to do.  Weight training is very important at this stage since its when you start seeing what your skin might look like.  My arms are great right now.  I don't have too many stretch marks there and the ones I have are very light.  My stomach needs some work and so do my thighs.  I guess I'll have to really work on that.  For those of you in the NYC area that are interested in the boot camp go to www.nycadventurebootcamp.com  It'll will change your life.  Until next time....

WE DID IT!!!

Nov 04, 2008

I AM SO PROUD TO CALL BARACK OBAMA OUR PRESIDENT.  HE IS THE SYMBOL OF FREEDOM.  A SYMBOL OF WHAT EVER WE THOUGHT WAS NOT POSSIBLE IN THIS COUNTRY.  HE HAS OPENED THE DOORS FOR US MINORITY WHO ARE CONSTANTLY DISREGARDED. I AM SO THRILLED AND EXCITED.  JUST WHEN WE LOST HOPE BECAUSE OF THE ECONOMY, BECAUSE OF THE HOUSING CRISIS, THE WAR AND THE THOUGHT THAT WE WOULD HAVE ANOTHER 4 YEARS OF FAILED POLITICS,  AMERICA FINALLY MADE A WISE AND RIGHT CHOICE.

For the First Time EVER!!!

Nov 01, 2008

Today for the first time in my life I shopped in the regular size section of Macys.  I was with my friend Ana who recently had the lap band done.  I was looking for a coat since last years size 22 does not fit me.  I started walking to the plus size section and stops me and says "Why are you going over there?  You need to introduce yourself to the regular section?"  At first I was skeptical cuz that's just somewhere I've never gone.  I tried on an XL Steve Madden coat and to my surprise it fit.  I couldn't believe it.  I was so excited so I tried on some Guess coats, Anne Klein, Kenneth Cole, Donna Karen all these name brands that I never thought I could get into and they all fit.  Finally I tried on an Anne klein coat that fit gorgeous but it was white and I wasn't going to wear white.  Then Ana found me a double breasted I.N.C. coat and it was perfect.  So I bought.  The nice thing about shopping in regular sizes is the price.  The coat was 30% off plus with a coupon that Ana had it came out to less than $100.00 .  I could never buy a plus size coat that fit me that beautiful and at that price.  I'm so happy, I'm so blessed.
