My name is Vicky.  I'm 53 years old.  I will have VSG tomorrow at Kaiser West LA.  This part of my journey began by attending a 6-month "Options Program" through Kaiser last October.  My weight was 296 when I began this program and when it ended in April my weight was 276.  We learned alot!  It was geared toward people who wanted the RNY surgery.  After the program ended, I wanted to stay in touch with Dr. Osano, my bariatric doctor, so I continued to see her monthly.  On June 17th, I told her I was interested the gastric sleeve and asked to be put on the "long list" because I was still nervous about having any surgery. On July 14th I got a call from Kaiser West LA saying they had an opening for a consult with Dr. Kim on July 16th.....(July 16th???  I almost passed out), but I took it!  He said I was a good candidate for WLS and we discussed the sleeve. He said "how about August 3rd?"....I was like "what?"....and asked when the next date would be??? He said he didn't know.  Well, I believe in divine intervention and took the August 3rd date. I told my boss, Debra the following day.  She was so supportive, as is my whole department.  My emotions have been up and down ever since and today I'm just 'chillin' and going to relax in the pool. My top weight was 305 and I am currently at 266. I have a good support system at home, my beautiful 21 year old daughter, Autumn and my fiance, Martin, who is my perfect match.  I am ready and know that I am in good hands.....
