On Nov. 21, 2011 my life began...again. I decided to have gastric bypass surgery. That day saved my life & gave me my life back. I started my WLS at 491 pounds. That was the highest weight that I have ever been at in my entire life. I got my life back & 14 years later I'm down to 220. I know it's taken all this time, but got side tracked with severe depression & PTSD.
With such a dramatic weight loss, I have lots of excess skin that I won't share pictures of with the world right now. The excess skin is a lot of my depression & no matter how my therapist puts a spin on it, it's still looks horrible to see. We can call it my battle scars, but a person can only hide so much. When all the gravity & excess skin travels south, it collects around the legs & knees.
Since I'm of Medicare age & all the skin around my knees & thighs are a tripping hazard, MedicareAdvantage will pay to have a thigh lift, excessive skin removed. My surgery date is in Dec 2024. I can hide my stomach, it's hard to hide the legs & arms. Soon I'll be able to walk without tripping myself up or falling.
