HAPPY SURGIVERSARY

Jan 07, 2009

Today is my 1 year surgiversary!!!!  I feel great.. this morning while I was jogging on the treadmill, I thought to myself ...right about now, they were wheeling me into the OR!!!!!   It has been a crazy mixed up year, I lost a job, got a better job, where I am appreciated, and respected. I have dropped 113 lbs and gone from a 26/28 to a 14.  I am by no means done losing weight and right now I am concentrating on being more physically active.   I would like to tone up a bit.  I have recently had an appt with my surgeon, who says I look wonderful, and he says that by now I should be eating pretty much normally.  He feels there is really no food that is "forbidden".  He wants his patients to be "normal" and normal people eat cookies now and then, or some other such not so great for you item.  I am able to eat pretty much anything, too much sugar affects me in some weird ways, and not always the same way, so it is a good reason to avoid it.
Things I have acheived this past year
Rollerskating
Amusement park rides
Crossing my legs
Love my collar bones
I am wearing makeup and doing my hair
Wearing colors other than black and dark blue
Working out
Doing a 5k
Life is great

Nov Update

Nov 14, 2008

Well, I have been pretty much stuck for the past month and a half. I am waivering at 172.5 to 175...back and forth up and down, I am hating it!!!!   I have been trying to move more, and now that my work schedule is not so crazy, I am going to concentrate on me.  I am wearing size Med scrubs, and at home I wear med and lg tops and 14 jeans.  I am hoping to be near or at goal when I see my surgeon mid Dec for my 1 year check up... it is about 3 weeks shy of my 1 year but I am cool with that.  I am eating pretty much what I want, but I still avoid most potatos pasta and rice, I dont drink with meals, and that is not such a hard thing.  I drink at least 80 oz of water per day usually more.  I am taking my vits as recommended, and I am trying to add more exercise, but I must admit this is my one weak area.  I know that I am just hurting myself, and I am working on it.

7 MONTHS!!!!

Aug 18, 2008

So, here it is 7 months and a bit... I am teetering on the 100 lbs lost, as of today it is 99.9 lbs!!!!!!  I started in a 26/28,and this weekend I bought size 14 jeans...  I have lost 69 1/4 inches from all over.  I can run and walk and play with my daughter.  I must admit I still have not added working out to my life, but now that my daughter is back in school, I plan to go to the gym every day that I am off.  I can use the weights and the pool for as long as I want, so I have hopes that soon I will start to firm up my flabbiness.
Eating is going well, I am just over 1/2 cup of food per meal, and due to my job I have also added 1 or 2 snacks per day, depending on how busy I am.

6 Months out

Jul 07, 2008

Well here it is 6 months out from surgery!!!!  I feel great!!!!  I am at a loss of 90 lbs so far, and about 57inches lost.
I have more energy than ever, and am wanting to try things I havent done in years.  I took my daughter to the carnival on Sat, I went on rides that I never would have dared go on last summer.  I am also planning a trip to Eliches in a couple of weeks, cant wait, havent been there in like 7 years.  And knowing I dont have to worry about fitting really makes it more fun.
I tried to sit down and make a list of what I gave up when having surgery, and what I have gained has far outweighed that short list.  I dont miss anything I have given up, the health benefits are tremendous!!!!!   I just try every day to eat what is good, and I really dont beat myself up for the occasional treat, slip up, what ever you want to call it.  Now I want to work on my self confidence issues and who knows what will happen then.

Week 25

Jun 23, 2008

Today starts week 25, so technically I am 6 months out.  I had an appt with Dr Bordelon on Friday, and he is very pleased with where I am!!!!! According to my scale Friday I weighed 203, and according to his I was 199. So if I wanted to I could change my weight to reflect the 6 extra pounds lost and say I am at 193.  But I will stay with what my scale says for now.
ONEDERLAND!!!!!!! today I weighed, and I always record on Mondays and today I was 199. Wonderland and 50lbs to go!!!!!!  I am wearing a size 18 shorts and a size L shirt.....
I feel awesome!!!!  I need to start moving more, and that is my new focus, since eating is going well, and I have not had any serious problems, I need to up the workouts. So now every day that I work, my goal is 12000 steps or more and on non work days, I will go to the gym at work for at least 30 minutes to 1hr. So that is 4 days a week gym and 3 days a week walking.
Life is great

5 Months out

Jun 08, 2008

So here it is 5 months post surgery......  I am down 78ish pounds since surgery, I have lost at least 38 inches from all over. I am in a size 18 pants and l or xl shirt.  At work I went from a 3x scrub fitting me tightly to a xl pants and l shirt fitting me properly.  I am on my feet all day, and average about 5 miles of walking at work.  I work 12 hour shifts with no problems. Im consistently getting 7.5 hours of good sleep each night. I am eating just over 3/8 cup of food per meal, 3 meals a day and 1 snack.  (sometimes I eat more, but I try to keep it in check).  I am trying to add more exercise and movement to my routine, but I admit im lazy!!!!!!  I have had a couple of bouts of dumping, nothing too serious, and I have had no problem with eating just about anything.  I have tried quite a few of eggfaces recipes, and have enjoyed every single one!!!!!!!  The one thing that I wish I could work on is my shyness.  I am so used to being invisible, and avoiding meeting people, that I cant seem to get past that.  I am scared to step into the world and be seen.

16 WEEKS WEIGHT LOSS UPDATE

Apr 27, 2008

Today is the start of week 17 of my new life!!!! As such, I have just hit my 4 month mark, even though some people would say May 7 is 4 months.... I'm just so happy I wanted to post my success to date!!!!!
Today I weigh 215 which is 66 lbs less than when I started and 66 lbs from where I want to end up.  I AM HALF WAY TO GOAL!!!!!!!!
So the good stuff
I have gone from 26/28 to an 18/20 top and 20 pants
I have lost a total of 39 inches
I am walking anywhere from 6000 to 12000 steps a day, I can go up stairs without getting winded
I am exercising at least 3 times a week (need to up that)
I love my new job!!!!!!!
I am planning on buying season passes to the Elich Gardens amusement park!!!!!
Knock on wood . . . I have had no problems at all since my surgery
I sleep well, I eat well, at this point I am eating whatever I want, just keeping track of portions.  I eat 3 meals a day, which today went up to 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon, and 1 snack.  I dont count protein or calories, but that is ok.  I have lost weight consistently, I have had 1 stall of 1 week, and when I ate a bit more, I lost the next week. I am working on getting a PCP, so I can get blood drawn to check my numbers.  I feel better, and having bought clothes at a  thrift store that fit, I look better than I did wearing the old baggy stuff.  I have now boxed up the baggy stuff for donation.   I have eaten badly once. I had a small piece of my brothers birthday cake, and I got a headache from the sugar, but I felt it was worth it.  I LOVE THIS SURGERY AND MY LIFE!!!!

NEW JOB!!!!

Mar 28, 2008

Well I finally have a new job!!! I will be moving to Greeley tomorrow, to start work on Monday 3/31.  I am really happy about the new job.  I have rented an apartment, and it will be the first time in like 20 years that I have lived alone. I am leaving my daughter with my mom till she finishes 1st grade.

End of month 2

Mar 10, 2008

Well 8 weeks are gone!!!!  I am eating pretty much what I want, but in way small portions. I get protein and veggies and starches in. ( I am allowed to eat pasta, rice, and potatoes).  I have not had any medical problems at all.  I saw the nut and the psych on Mar 3, 08, I thought I was having depression, but the psych said I was fine, with so much bad stuff going on in personal life, it was ok to be sad!!!!  Nut says I am fine, right on track with weightloss and eating. I am up to 9 tsp, adding 1 tsp every 2 weeks.  As of end of 8 weeks I have lost a total of 41 lbs and 21 1/2 inches.  I will admit that I havent been working out at all, probably in part to all the crap going on, and not feeling like doing anything.  But will add exercise starting now.
Still no word on the job front, have applied for a few jobs. Had 1 interview in Greeley CO about 3 hours from where I live now, will be going to Ogallala NE for an interview coming up.

1 month out

Feb 04, 2008

Wow!!! It has been an interesting month!!!!!  I have lost 23.5 lbs in 1 month and 13 inches!!!!  I am down 1 pant size and prob 1 shirt size also.
I have energy, I am walking almost everyday, and I have been able to eat just about anything.  I cannot do beef like potroast, too stringy.  All meats and veggies that I have tried are fine. My surgeon is not against carbs, so I am allowed crackers and pasta and potatos.
I have work issues, but I hope to resolve that soon enough.
I am amazed at how I feel, and cant wait for more time to pass. I look forward to the summer when I can have fun with Kelsey at the amusement parks and such. My surgeon is awesome, and this surgery is awesome.
