I have been so busy over the last couple of months with all of the testing that I had to complete. I just submitted the last thing to my surgeon's office today. The person that handles the insurance stuff said it would be a week or two before it was sent to insurance. She also said that BCBS usually makes a decision in 1 to 2 days but it can take up to a couple of weeks. I am nervous to the point that I can't sleep at night. It's gonna be a long couple of weeks.

I have scheduled my appointment with the surgeon for August 3rd. The office told me that if they get any cancellations they will move my appointment up. I am so excited, and I can't wait to start this process.

My new insurance went into effect on May1st and I am so happy. It has been a long time coming. I have a 30-day waiting period for pre-existing conditions. After June 1st I can make an appointment with the doctor. I am excited to move forward wtih this.

After searching for weeks for new insurance, I think I have found some insurance that will pay for my surgery. My employer wasn't offering insurance and I talked them into getting a small group policy. My boss was also kind enough to choose an insurance that would cover my surgery. For all of this I am thankful. When the lady came out to sign us up I asked a lot of questions regarding the surgery.  She printed out the guidelines for covering the surgery and she said they would cover it. The only negitive thing is, it won't  go into effect until May 1st. I am sure the time will fly or I hope it does. Please keep your fingers crossed.

Before Christmas I attended a WLS seminar and the insurance specialist from that practice informed me that she would contact my insurance company to check the coverage on my plan. She called and said that yes my insurance does cover WLS. I was so excited, however I wanted to do some research on my own before making an appointment with the surgeon. After doing my homework and talking to some people I decided to see another surgeon. I made an appointment for this surgeon's seminar. It was last night and I must say I was extremely impressed. I turned in my program fee and my packet last night. I was happy to find out from them that my insurance company doesn't require a waiting period like some other providers. I came home and couldn't wait to tell my family. I could barely go to sleep last night because I was so excited.  They recommended calling my insurance company to verify the coverage so I did. I wasn't worried about it because I was already told that they cover it. I was in for a huge surprise. They told me that there is no coverage for WLS with my policy. At first I couldn't believe my ears, I hung up and called back hoping that it was a mistake. Sure enough, NO COVERAGE!!!!!!!! I am so mad and disappointed right now. I am really not sure what to do from here. I don't see how the doctor's office was told one thing and now I am being told something completely different. I feel so hopeless right now. It's not that easy to just change insurance providers. Paying cash for the surgery isn't an option either. I just knew it was too good to be true! I will begin searching for a new insurance company starting tomorrow. Please say a prayer and wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to a WLS seminar on January 22nd and  I have an appoinment with my surgeon on Febrauary 3rd. I can't wait. I am getting so excited. I have heard that the whole insurance thing can be a nightmare so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
