I had my psych appoint (He squeezed me in at the last minute be before he goes away for 2 mths!) and it went very well! He is giving me clearance for surgery!! I am so happy feel like I'm gonna burst!(or maybe it because I overate way too much lol) but it is a go!! I was so freaking happy I pulled over the side of the highway and called my husband, and then I called the bariatric center and they said it was great news and I should have my packet with all my appts next week sometime (endoscope, cardio, pulmonary, endocrinologist, nutritionist etc!) they trying to get everything in and done by the end of April beginning of May... In between all of this I will be required to go on a mandatory 5 week monitored medifast diet and must lose 13 lbs for insurance purposes, and also they require an additional 13lbs for a total of 26 lbs ! 10% of my weight.. We are shooting for a mid may end of may surgery date.. I am so happy! I just hope I can lose the 26lbs... I could start dieting now,but they said my diet starts the 1st day of my medifast appointment with them which will be in a week or 2??

Please pray for me - I really need this surgery..Today I went grocery shopping and felt awful... very winded and tired, had a hard time bending over to pick up grocerys I dropped it was and is embarrasing...

Do any of you have a tips on how to speed up my weight loss ? I have to have 5 shakes a day, 64oz of water, and asensible meal when this starts any tips on my making the pounds melt??

Thankyou all for being there ...Now all we di is hope there are no bumps in the road and I get insurance approval..... :) want2befatfree( and hopefully soon not anonymous!) take care :)

OK.. I got the best present today!!!

THE BEGINNING DECISION...

Jan 27, 2007

Well.. Hello all...I went to my "Mandatory Seminar' required for surgery at a hospital located  2 1/2 hrs away and I learned a lot! The main reason why I chose Adirondack medical Center was because they offered DS surgery which is what I was leaning towards...(There are 2 centers closer one at Ellis hospital in schenectady 30 mins from me, and Albany medical center 45 mins from me but they only offer RNY OR LAPBAND) Any way I was glad to have gone but also disapointed. They offer DS but only have performed 100 surgerys and over 800 RNYS.
And the travel time to all appt's is up in saranac lake !!
# 2 I called my insurance company and they don't cover Afirondack surgical Associates. (MVP Insurance)..

So, I've decided on Rny for at Albany for several reasons.
#1 it's reversible (god forbid something happens)
# 2 I just went back to my job: I left there after 5 1/2 years of service this summer for "greener pastures"  and discovered I'd made a huge mistake and returned after being gone for 5 months but lost all my time and I am starting off as a new employee on probation  & no time to use for Dr's appt, travel, etc.. Any time I take off has to be made up that week or I can get written up- it's hard to make  up more then 4 hours because they have to have someone basically "babysit" me after hours and supervisors hate that...I get no vacation time, sick time or personal time until june 1st. ( this stinks because I was there for almost 6 years and now I have no seniority etc...!)
#3 I know rny is successful and people have had great success stories and others have gained weight and had major complications but If for some reason down the road things don't work out, and I gain etc at least the option is there for a revision.
SO, I am filling out my Paperwork for albany med and I will call MVP monday for my group & provider numbers (i just got insurance this week) and fax them in. I see my PCP for a full physical thursday incl blood work etc & hopefully he's on board and get a referral. Albany med says once they receive my completed paper work in I have to wait to hear back from them and they will call me for an initial information session which is one of several mandatory sessions. They also mention in there paper work something about paying 100.00 for mandatory  "educational sessions" which are not covered by insurance, I just hope that it's 100.00 for all sessions not each or I cannot afford to go!!
I am also attending my first support group sunday night in Gloversville..I feel I am on my way.. Nervous, anxious, & just want to get this started.

Well, here I am with more news... I have decided to have RNY at ELLIS HOSPITAL... (SCH'DY NY) because my insurance suggested it and Its so much closer to home!! I've been to the seminar,

I have my 1st consult with Dr clark ( I chose him because my Dr's asst had him )and loved him and said he is awesome!! So, thats where I am today my 1st consult is scheduled next week and I cannot wait!! I'll post mre soon !! Thank you all !! rae
