3 years out and life

Sep 09, 2013

wow, i can't believe that it's been so long since i've been on here!!  so, it's been 3 years since my WLS and i feel great!  life is going splendidly!!  i have lost just over 100 lbs and have been maintaining the loss by eating right and exercising.  i do zumba 3 times a week and just love it.  i have the best instructor in the world and i have made so many wonderful friendships!!  i also sometimes go to the gym with my hubby.  and i try to fit in boot camp when i can.  i struggle just like anyone else on what to eat, how much to eat, etc.  i have learned to deal with food much better through my journey though.  it isn't as hard as it once was.

on dec 27, 2012, i had a tummy tuck to remove the extra skin and fat that i had hanging from my stomach.  the surgery went great and i have a fabulous flat tummy now!!  i continue to work on the parts of my body that i don't love so much.  i would love to get a thigh lift and a booby job, but they don't fit into my budget right now so i will just keep exercising and changing my body that way.

i hope that everyone else is doing great.  i have met so many wonderful people through this journey!!  it has taught me a lot about myself also!  take care and keep chugging along!!  life is good.  :)

The stall blues...

Jun 08, 2011

well, it's been a while since i've been on here to update my status!!  i've been busy trying to work, play and everything in between.
i am coming off of a 3 month stall...YES, 3 LOOONNNGGGG months!!  i am not sure why i stalled, but i just started to lose a few pounds this week, so hopefully that means i am back on the path to Loserville!!  i don't know if my body has finally got accustomed to my eating and exercise habits or what, but being stalled for that long really sucks.  every few days i would get on the scale hoping and praying that today would be the day...and it wouldn't budge!  but still i kept on with my routine.  and finally, i got on the scale and saw for the first time in YEARS...169!!  i was finally out of the 170's which is where i was stuck for 3 long months!  i couldn't have been happier.  i am weighing in at 168 today and hopeful that in a few days i will be closer to the mid 160's than i am now.  small milestones get me through each day.
i do think that i need to switch up my exercise routine.  i Zumba 3 times a week and have seen such HUGE improvements in my body!!  i have arm definition (even though i could seriously knock someone out with the batwings i have happening...lol), i am starting to sculpt my body into something better each time i put my sneakers on and wiggle my butt!  and i couldn't be prouder of myself.  i won a contest back in march (of course it was during my stall or it would have been more) losing the most weight in 10 wks...15.3 lbs!!  i won a free year's worth of Zumba along with a bunch of other prizes!!  i was thrilled!  However, i think my body might need a change up of routine to get going again!  i am thinking i need to add some walking in there and also, some light weights.  i will let you know if it helps.  also, i think i need to start eating more veggies to lighten up my meals a bit.  i will also keep you posted on that.
i am quickly approaching my 1 year mark (8/9) so i will be back to post for that and post my 1 year pics.
i am down 88 lbs and it feels freaking great!!  ttys!

Onederland...wootwoot!!

Dec 05, 2010

wow, what a journey it's been so far!!  but i've finally reached my goal of entering into a place i haven't visited in years.. ONEDERLAND!!  it's been so long since i've had a one in front of my weight that i can't even remember the last time!!  regardless, it feels great to finally be back again!  as far as how i feel...couldn't be better.  nothing to complain about!  still following my plan, meeting my protein goals everyday, working out several times a week, and living life on top of it!  LIFE IS GOOD!!  down a few sizes in my clothes now and it's great to get rid of the dreaded fat clothes!  started doing zumba and i absolutely love it!  what a great workout.  i've never sweated so much in my whole life...lol!!
just about at my 4 month mark.  started at 256 and am down to 198...58 lbs gone for good!  c ya!!
thought thanksgiving would have been hard with all of the food, but surprisingly enough, it wasn't.  i guess i am so thankful for my new life that it was easy to put the old me behind.
on a sadder note, i just found out that my surgeon is leaving Pennsylvania and moving back to Illinois...i am heartbroken.  i love dr. boe for helping me get to where i am and i will truly miss him.  however, the good people of Illinois will no doubt benefit from his arrival!!  best of luck Boe!!
hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.  c u in the new year!

3 months post-op

Nov 10, 2010

well, it's been 3 months since my surgery and all i can say is WOW!!  i feel great...exercising is actually enjoyable now!!  i love doing zumba and walking and circuit training at the gym!!  also, i get to hang out with friends while working out...what a great way to bond!  i have lost 48 lbs to date and am finally starting to see a change in the way my clothes fit...which is to say they are falling off my much smaller butt-lol!!  i told an old friend the other day that it is very emotional for me because now when i look into the mirror i see someone who is pretty and it makes me feel so good about myself that i find i get misty-eyed alot!  i feel like my outside is finally catching up with my inside!
halloween came and went and i didn't miss the candy!  brought a few pieces of sugar free candy with me just in case.  i ate a couple and it was good enough!  getting ready to plan a healthy holiday menu to serve at my house this year...hope it tastes good!!
be back next month.  for anyone trying to decide whether to have this surgery or not...i say YES!!  it has changed my life for the better!

two months post op

Oct 10, 2010

well, it's been 2 months since the surgery and i couldn't be happier!!  i have lost 38 lbs and 29-1/2 inches total!!  i am seeing such a difference in my body - it is amazing.  i feel great and love what i see when i look in the mirror.  i am at the point where i am embracing all of the positive changes and feeling good about them...i figure there will be plenty of time for me to criticize and pick apart all the parts of my body that i don't like in the future.  so, for now, i am just loving the little changes.  they make me happy!
food is much easier to eat.  still have some problems once in a while with food getting stuck...but not very often.  and i am getting a bit better at getting my fluids in.  i will keep working toward all of my goals.
i have met some really great people through this journey...it is great to have people rooting for you and hoping you do well.  i try to be there for them as well and really support them on their journeys!!
what a great trip this has been so far...hopefully it just keeps getting better.  hope all you wls-ers are doing well...keep up the hard work!!

One month post op

Sep 14, 2010

So, I just passed my one month surgiversary!!  I am feeling good.  Some foods are getting stuck...but i just try to avoid them and try to eat a little slower and chew my food really well!!  I am down 27 lbs. and can feel and see a difference in my clothes.  I have been walking on the treadmill as much as I can.  Back to school took some of my free time away, but getting back on track now.  Still struggling to get in 64 oz of fluids a day.  I struggled with that even before my surgery.  But am doing well with my protein goals.  I have definitely lost my love for food.  I now eat to live rather than live to eat!!  It is definitely a welcome change for me!  Will check back soon.  Next blog I will include my measurements and how many inches i've lost!  ttys.

Pre-op liquid diet

Aug 06, 2010

Well, today is day 8 of the pre-op clear liquid diet...and it's not so bad.  Day one was dreaded, day two was a little easier, and now, at day 8...it's a breeze.  The best part of it is that I've lost 14 lbs. already!!  My Dr. will be very happy about that.  My surgery is on Monday, i can't believe that it is finally here.  I am so looking forward to starting my new life of healthy living.  See you on the other side.
