Hello to the OH family. Hope all is well with everyone. Everything is fine on my end. It has been 1 week and 2 days since my Lap Band Surgery and I havent had any problems. Thank you Jesus! Today was my first day back at work at part-time job,Walmart. I will return to my full time job on Monday, so I have enjoyed having the time off. I have been working out in the am. I take my daughter to the bus stop at 6:15am and then go and workout. By not working it was nice, I could workout as long as I waited without having to go to work afterwards. Next week it will not be that way, I will have to go to work after I workout but that's okay, I can do it! I dont want to be a slave to the scale so I have decided to weigh every 2 weeks. I did weigh to see if the scale had moved any the first week and it did by 3 pounds! Yeah! Hey I know its not much but its better than gaining. The protein drinks are not the best but I have at least one a day and take my multi-vitamin and drink lots of water. All is good, I am Blessed ! Just like my OH friend Carmie says, we can't compare ourselves to others, so my weight loss and journey will be my own and no one else.

Hello everyone
Today I went in at 6:ooam, my surgery was at 8:00am. Everything went really well. The staff at CMC-Mercy were very kind. They weighed me at the hospital this morning at 261 lbs. After surgery I had absolutely no pain. I am Thank Ful to my Lord and Jesus Christ for sending his Angels around me. God really answered my prayers for a safe and successful surgery. On a different note, before they would let me go home I had to use the bathroom,void,pee what ever you would like to call it, I couldn't do it. It took almost 3 hours of waiting around and 2 full bags of fluid before I could go.But I finally went, and boy! was I ready to go home.
I will post later with more information, Nicole wants to get back on the computer.

Hello to everyone,  I will be having my Lap Band Procedure on thurs. feb. 12. I will go in at 6:00am and my procedure is scheduled for 8:00am. I have been down this road almost 3 months ago, but as it gets closer to the day I am getting more excited about it. I am realistic in my expectations, and I am committed to following my instructions as I was before. I do believe now that this was the best decision for me, meaning to continue on and make the decision to have the Lap Band after the RNY didnt work out. I am so thankful; I am Thankful to God for this opportunity, I am Thankful for having a good job with good insurance expecially during these economic times, I am Thankful for the support and encouragement that I have received from everyone. I need to have a healthier life for myself and my girls, so I am looking forward to the weight loss. I have friends on the OH site that have done tremendously well with there weightloss and I am sure it has not been easy for them. I look forward to that success as well.

Hello to everyone out there to all my friends and everyone in the OH family. It is the second day of 2009, and I am feeling really great about this year and what it will bring. I thank God for allowing me to live to see another year. Even though I was not succesful with having my RNY procedure and I am looking forward to getting this extra baggage of weight off of me for good. I have decided to have the Lap Band procedure now. When it was getting close to the date of my RNY procedure I had told everyone in my inner circle and everyone at my job. This time I have told only 2 people and will tell no one at my job, because I don't want to hear all of the questions like I received after I wasn't able to have the RNY. But it is all good, I am focused and ready and the date is just around the corner so I am quietly excited as well. I am determined to be 100lbs less by this time next year!. I had jumped off the bandwagon with my posts for the month of december. I re-dedicate my self to that as well, along with keeping in touch with my OH friends. I can't believe Nicole with be 16years old this year and Makayla will be 5. I believe this year will be something amazing. Things will happen in my life that have never happened before in the most positive ways.
p.s. I did get the hospital bill it is for $22,699.00. and I wasn't even able to have the procedure.

Hello to everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am doing just fine. I am blessed and thankful for each and every day. I would also like to say thank you to everyone that has giving me such kind words of support and encouragement over the last week. I really appreciate it more than you know. Also thanks to the folks on the message forum who gave me support and info as well. I have a little less than two weeks to go before I have my follow-up with Dr.Gersin. I have not made my decision as to if I will have the Lap Band or just try and do things on my own. I havent received the hospital bill yet, but I am sure that we be a determining factor. When I decide I will let you all know.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Well, today is wed. Nov. 19. It has been 1 week and 1 day since I went to CMC-Mercy to have my Gastric RNY surgery. I went in excited about finally getting to this day. I was so proud and still proud of the fact that I stuck to the liquid diet and did everything that I was required to do perfectly without any cheating or mistake on my part. The nurse wheeled me in the surgery room. I was excited, and very greatful to see all those people getting things ready for me. Next thing I know I was out. When I starting waking up from the anesthesia I was in the recovery room.My  surgeon Dr. Gersin was standing beside me telling me that he was not able to do the surgery because my stomach/intestines were all tangled up and that in the future I could have the lap band or the gastric sleeve. As I said, I was still under the effects of the anesthesia so I was only able to mumble uh huh but, I was trying to process it in my mind. I couldn't believe it!! I was crushed!! After I started to come around, the nurse came in and told me that they were sending me home and she will trying to get in touch with my family who weren't in the waiting room at that time. I could feel the laproscopic incision on my belly and they were very sore. I felt like I had the surgery but the procedure was not done. I went home a few hours after I had began my day at the hosp. very disappointed because I had planned to be there for at least two days (or go home on thurs). Instead I went home with No procedure, just a cut belly and unanswered questions. I was told to f/u w/Dr.Gersin in 2 weeks and he would discuss things. But my appt with him was not until 12/5 which was over 3 weeks away. I had already gotten my FMLA from my full time job and part time to be out 3 weeks. So the next day after being home I had to call my jobs and tell them what happen and work on approval to come back much, much earlier than expected. I went back to work on this past Monday. I had to use Tues. wed. thurs. fri. of PTO time for absolutely nothing. I missed a weekend off from my parttme walmart. I had to repeat the story a million of times to people wanted to know what happen. I called Dr. gersin's office and finally received the name for the condition that I have and they call it Malrotation. Malrotation of the intestines result when the intestines rotation and fixaction that occurs during pregancy fails to occur.In otherwords my intestines are all screwed up. I wish they could have done some kind of test to determine this before I took the time and money to have this surgery, but I THANK GOD that it wasn't anything worse. Apparently the nurse said this has happened before to some of their paients so they are aware of the condition. I had never heard of it before.

Well, only 1 week to the Big Day !!  Getting excited and a little nervous. This full liquid diet is getting on my nerves slightly, but I have followed it point by point and will continue to.

It has been a while since I've posted. I'm getting close to my big day ! I started this journey on May 21st and I am almost there. I started the liquid diet on Tues. and it is not that bad. I am enjoying the Uninjury chocolate protein drink that I mix in the blender. I was very happy that Dr.Gersin was at the support group meeting because it was the first time that I have seen him since first meeting him on May 21st. He seems so personable and he has a nice sense of humor. Usually when I tell people that I am having weight loss surgery there first reaction is " Your not that Big" ! I don't get angered by that remark. I think it is funny, someone else measure you on how big they think you are. The girls and I went to Walmart that I work at last night to get some stuff Nicole needed for school. One of my co-workers found out that I was having the surgery and of course she said to me "your not that big". But then she says something that I have heard from anyone before. " What are going to do about those Breasts" ! I couldn't help but to laugh  because it was so innocently said. I do have big boobs, so when I do lose the weigh it will be something different to here the different reactions to my new shape.
