40 Pounds gone for good!

Jul 22, 2011

Woo hoo! Apparently I weighed more at the start....2 pounds more. Because today I went to the doc's and they said yay! You've lost 40 pounds! So, WOOO HOOOO!!! It feels great to be under 250!

OK, now for the not so good part....I have become completely lactose intollerant! No cottage cheese, no low fat cheese, no fat free cheese, no milk and worst of all, no Greek yogurt!!!  They said the symptoms my lessen over time, but for now its black coffee if I drink it and Apple/Melon Isopure for me!  I can do it. I don't really mind the Isopure. I figure thats 40g of protein, add a piece of fish at 20g of protein and I am good to go!

35 Pounds gone!

Jul 18, 2011

Woo hoo......down to 252!!! That means I'm minus 35 pounds since surgery! I'll take it. I am enjoying swimming and the gym....well as much as anyone can enjoy going to the gym!  The computer is giving me fits still! I'd like to pick it up and toss it out the window, but then I will be stuck using only my phone!

I got another cookbook yesterday....Rocco DiSpirito's Now Eat This. Great book so far. It takes all the comfort foods and leans them down.  Just found out the same book is available in a Diet Version....I'm guessing this one will have the stuff he created for Biggest Looser, so I guess I have to hit Amazon or another bookstore today! I'm not all that into cooking, so always searching for the elusive quick, easy, minimal clean-up recipe!

My First Real Workout

Jul 16, 2011

OK, so I joined the Y. I thought mainly I would go swimming, but we treated ourselves to the good membership this time and get to use the locker rooms and the equipment in there as well. It was pretty nice. I did a half our on the treadmill and then 10 minutes on the bike and then a few minutes in the hottub! Woo hoo!

Go Hungry Girl!!!

Jul 13, 2011

Wow! I got a great cookbook! Its from the Hungry Girl. There are so many recipes in there that read fine as they are and a few that I will modify to meet my requirements for less fat and/or sugar, but the majority of what I have read so far looks really yummy and can stand as is.  Plus, I think she's my new hero....there is a whole chapter dedicated to things you can microwave!!! Woo hoo!

Here I am trying to down 8 of them a day and if I miss one, thinking oh no I didn't get all my water in today....so basicly I've been drinking about 128oz of water a day!

Sesame Place

Jul 07, 2011

Well, visited Sesame Place on Wednesday and Thursday! Awesome time! I was really thrilled to not mind walking around in my bathing suit for 2 days straight!!!  I have to say there were definitly some sights to see in that respect.....NOT good ones!  The park was really really fun.

We had dinner with Elmo, Big Bird, Abby and the Count.  It was a buffet. They had baked Tilapia.....looked totally dry, but had breading on it. I scraped the breading off, ate a small piece of fish and a steamed sliced carrot and two steamed beans. Obviously there was more to this dish than meets the eye, because I threw up for three hours after eating it! Ugh! It will probably be a week or two before I can eat fish again! So, lesson learned: Things are not always as they appear. Duh!!!

Then the next day, I could barely keep down yogurt. So, I think it may have been a combination of things....one being the heat. I think we picked the two hottest days of the summer so far to go.  At least it was a water park! As we waited in line for one of the water slides I almost passed out....heat stroke. As soon as my body hit that cool water on the slide I was so thankful it wasn't as warm as it could have been. The cool water felt so good and I was instantly revived and felt much much better. My favorite ride was the lazy river....you just float along in a tube. I actually walked around it a few times guiding Lily away from the water sprays and fountains, so good exercise for my calves!

Down 28 pounds!!!

Jul 01, 2011

Wow! On Wednesday I had my first follow-up with the metabolic doc since getting out of the hospital. I am down 28 pounds! I thought that made it worth starting this blog! LOL

So far the process has been great.  I am hoping to start swimming today since I have a pool membership for the summer instead of a gym membership! It should be fun!

I'm becoming a better cook! I really was not big on cooking before, but now I like to know whats going into the food I'm eating, so I'm practicing more.

My favorite foods so far:

Home made Pea Soup. I boil a package of frozen organic peas, a package of chopped onions, salt and pepper in boxed chicken broth for about an hour...let it cool, then put it all in the blender. I could drink this hot or cold! Love it. There's about 4g protein in a cup.

egg beaters with organic mango salsa and buffalo humus! I love humus, so finding the spicy buffalo flavor was a bonus. I scrambel the egg beaters with a slice of Kraft Fat Free American and a teaspoon of the mango salsa and use Pam for cooking. I can't eat the whole thing, but eat some and put the rest away for a snack later in the day. The whole thing has about 10g of protein.

Plain Greek yogurt with SF jam! This is really good and has about 18g protein in it.  Sometimes if I need a protein boost, I mix my chocolate protein powder with th Greek yogurt for a 36g protein serving.

All in all, its going really well and I'm loving it!
