WOW!! It has been so long since I have updated my profile!! Haven't been to the Dr in a few months, but I am still at 244 pounds. I know my weight loss is slow because I am (and will always be) on insulin. I am a type 1 diabetic. Also 3 years ago I had a kidney transplant and I will FOREVER be on steroids (Prednisone). This slows down my weight loss. I am NOT disappointed in my weight loss, and I blame some of it on myself. I need to exercise more. Wish I had the enthusiasm to do it. I am going to add some links to help with questions on LAP BAND. Hope it helps someone.

I would like to dedicate this to my angel and beautiful sister Judi, who died in 1997 at the age of 47 of complications due to Morbid Obesity. May her gentle words and loving kindness always be in my heart

Gosh it has been a while since I updated. I haven't seen Dr. C since August. I think I have FINALLY found my "Sweet Spot" I have lost 43 pounds and feel really good. I would recommend this surgery to anyone!!

Saw Dr. C. yesterday....have lost 33 pounds so far. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but I feel it in my clothes. I am down from a size 26/28 to size 22/24 and feel it in my rings...they keep falling off my fingers. I really feel restriction today. I hope I am at my sweet spot and not to overfilled. More later!!

went to see Dr. C. Sorta got discouraged because this 6 weeks I have only lost 4 pounds. Having lots of trouble with my blood sugars going up and down. So far I am at 27 pounds lost.

went for my 3rd fill today. Really didn't think I needed one, but my Dr was going to put .5cc's in any way. When he pulled out what was in my band, I only had 2ccs to come out, so he put back in 3cc's. I sat there and tried to drink the water, but there was NO WAY that it was staying down. Needless to say Dr. C. came back and took .5cc's out. I feel really restricted tonight. I hope it lasts. It has been 17 weeks since surgery and I have lost 25 lbs. Dr. C says he is very pleased with my progress. I still want to lose faster, but I really think I need to exercise more. Any way...just wanted to update......more later!!

Just thought I would share my NSV. One morning last week I Put on a jacket that I was unable to fasten before.....Guess what....I am able to fasten it now. I decieded then to try on pants I have been unable to wear and yes....I was able to wear them. My husband was so proud of me he took me shopping and I got 2 pair of Capri's in a size 24. When I started this journey I was in a size 28, but I only wore sweat pants then. I am sooooo excited and am, as of 4/13/05, down 25 pounds!! What a journey!!

Got my profile spruced up today....I really like it. Went to the Endocrinologist yesterday, had to adjust my insulin some, I am still having some problems with it running high. I have lost 21 pounds according to him. I am happy, just wish it were faster. WILL I EVER BE SATISFIED?? LOL!!

A bit disappointed today. To date I have only lost 10 pounds. I think I just don't have an adequate fill yet, but I so want to lose this weight. I go for my 2nd fill on Feb. 18. Will write more then.

Saw Dr. C for my 2nd fill. As of today I have lost 15 pounds but the Dr seemed to think that was good. He said it would be slow going. I now have 2.5cc's in my band and I am feeling the restriction tonight, so I think this fill was just what I needed. I am feeling better about the weight loss but do realize I need to exercise more. Gonna get started on that soon.

Surgery

Teresa called today with a surgery date. It will be on November 30, 2004. I am so excited.
November 12, 2004:
went for my pre op appointment. Had blood work done and was told I would be Dr. Clements very first patient for Lap Band. Was told there would be people there from the company that makes the lap band and another surgeon who has done this surgery many times. I do not feel anxious at all about being his first patient. I trust him and believe he is a good surgeon.
This was a couple of months before surgery. I was about 290 here.
November 30, 2004:
I was Dr Clements FIRST Lap Band patient!! I did very well....Woke up with no pain, no nausea and no vomiting. Had to stay in the hospital a few more days because I am TYPE 1 Diabetic (another first for Dr Clements) and my blood sugars were out of control.
