I am 44 years old and have been obese for most of my life. Like most people with a weight problem, finding a solution that will work is difficult to obtain. Throughout my life my weight has increased slowly. In 2001 it had ballooned to 558 pounds. At 6ft tall I was massively overweight. Depression, anxiety, fear, and self loathing followed.

When I finally had enough I went to the Doctor for some help in 2005. We discussed different options, one of which was WLS. After research and careful consideration, I opted not to have the surgery. I admire anyone who has chosen to have the surgery for their courage and determination. I choose instead to begin to make lifestyle changes and see if that course if action would work. If after a reasonable amount of time had passed and there was no improvement, The WLS option would be revisited. It took some time for me to being the changes I had set out to accomplish. In the last year and half, maybe a little longer, I have lost 156 pounds to date. So far my lifestyle changes have had very good results.

I enjoy reading about people’s struggles and triumphs over their weight problems. It gives me encouragement to keep moving forward. I wish everyone the best of luck on their journey. If I can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
